Batum over Hendo/MKG alone is sufficient to make any coach look competent on offense. Lin over Roberts. Lamb over Lance. Hawes/Kaminsky over Biz.

Plus Marvin 2015-16 > Marvin 2014-2015, another massive upgrade for Cliff.

Al 2015-2016 > Al 2014-2015. Last year he sweat high fructose corn syrup.

Cliff has more athleticism and talent all around, both from returning players and new additions.

I like the better offense. people say there was a reason we played 'Al-fense'. your starters except for batum are from the 'Al-fense' years. are we saying we could have played uptempo all these years even with Jefferson and we just ... didn't?

I've been really impressed by Cliffords ability to pivot the style of the Hornets so quickly to match the leagues push towards more outside shooting. It's been a really pleasant surprise.

In 3 years he's coached an historically great rebounding team, a great defensive team, and now working on offense. He just needs the players.

He also deserves credit for having Lamb come off the bench. I couldn't imagine if PJ was with the second unit. Team would really take a hit while the starters are resting. It sounds like he needs to chill out. Players generally speaking do not like micro-managers any more than other folks.

Frequently Clifford is communicating with his point guards on defensive pick and roll calls. When he was pissed one game with Cody and Lin he was calling out everything for several minutes.

Haha so on point. Is it just me or is he the only coach in the league that does that?

I think it's a combination between him being one of the few loudest ones and our arena being real quiet. Other than that you can hear most coaching staffs command their defense at least through pick-n-roll coverages. "ICE!" can be heard plenty of times if you listen for it. It's just that you won't hear it as clearly at the Oracle, per example.

If I had to choose someone, I'd say that Thibs talks just as much as Cliff does. So, yeah, it certainly has something to do with the coach being a hands-on defensive specialist who wants to make sure that the execution is good on that end.
