Worth noting, Clarkson has been borderline elite as the pick and roll ball handler generating around 0.97 points per possession.

NBA owners are already increasing ticket prices. As a Wizards fan I loathe Ted Leonsis. Greed accompanies the spectacle.

The same Kings/Lakers tickets that I bought three days ago for $110 are now selling for $224. Just crazy...

The consensus on the Wizards board is Beal is overrated and not worth the max.
He does not create well off the dribble. He does not get to the line often. Last playoffs he stepped up but if you look at his production the last three years it is almost straight line.
Beal is a real good shooter and he's capable defensively. He's only 22. However, he's far from a max contract talent.
He's also injury prone.

Even so you would think they would run some more offensive sets for Beal. I watched the second half of the game tonight and he was flat out ignored on a number of trips down the floor. He looked disengaged for much of the 4th quarter.

That seems kind of accurate, even today he's been given a lot more freedom to attack from the weakside when Wall is being crowded but he seems either very limited or shy with the ball.

And he was a lot better than Russell. If Russell has the talent, skill and work ethic that it takes to be a great player, then he will. It doesn't matter how many minutes he plays or whether he plays in the fourth quarter.

Doesn't really matter. The point is you can be a top PG in this league without a game that's relied upon quickness and explosiveness.
Yes I agree, but what has yet to be discovered is whether you can be a top point guard in the todays NBA with Russell level of quickness and explosiveness (or lack thereof). That we don't know yet.

We need put the ball in Clarkson's hands and let him play the point more. He is our best point guard.Slava wrote:Worth noting, Clarkson has been borderline elite as the pick and roll ball handler generating around 0.97 points per possession.

whats more encouraging is that JC is second (6.4%) only behind lebron (5.0%) in TO freq. and he's pretty efficient too (48.9%, good for third on that list behind curry and parker)

Kobe out of nowhere? 31 points somehow
anyway Randle is such a beast and Clarkson is mr consistent, Russell did his job also
Lou Williams probably had one of his best games in a lakers uniform and bass was actually good

That was not a 3-14 team though, that was a team with championship aspirations. Are you Byron Scott in disguise?

Just to add to this, that was a team that only needed a coaching change essentially to become a dynasty. Phil came and they were a completely different animal.
It's actually a gold-standard for the fire Scott argument, if you take an extremely shallow view of the situation...
However, we don't have anywhere near the talent that team had...

Re: Circus Thread: 12/2 LAL @ WAS - 4pm - TWC
The problem is that even though 0.97 PPP is elite for a PnR ball handler, it's still inherently inefficient. If we only ran Clarkson PnRs the entire game and he was able to keep up that efficiency, we'd still be a bottom 5 offense in the league. The offense problems aren't solved by "just give the ball to Clarkson and let him run PnR".

If you look at the guys running the play with his level of frequency, they are on very good teams surrounded by better roll men and shooters. His ability to turn the corner coming off the screen or punish a defender going underneath it are what makes him so good at it.

Perhaps he was star gazing looking at Kobe, his idol. I've noticed Beal is distinctly different and better when he's angry at his opponent and it's someone he's not intimidated by. When he attacks the rim he's altogether better but this is the exception not the rule.
Tre Johnson is the future of the Wizards.

Kobe! What a great game. Love the Kobe tributes. Be nice if he can continue this kind of performance. Makes getting that NBA team pass well worth it
