Getting Karl players he can use is probably not even an option at this point. Karl has to adjust now, the players gave it a shot and there are only so many more attempts left.
The up-tempo, dribble-drive offense needs to end. Who exactly on the roster benefits from that style? We need to move back to being post oriented. We have Cousins, Gay, and Koufos. Every possession starts with one of them in the post. Maximize shooting around them and go from there. The goal is to get the other team in foul trouble, slow the game down, and dirty the game up.
We saw this strategy work beautifully under Malone with inferior personnel. We would frequently have teams in the penalty within the first half of quarters and the pace of the game would be in our favor. Cousins was thriving. Rudy was thriving. Collison was thriving. The only counters to this strategy last year was zone defense and fronting Cousins because we didn't have a floor general capable of directing the team in these situations. I believe Rondo is intelligent enough to solve that problem.
Maybe he can find a balance? Certainly you don't want Cousins to stay put down low and become one dimensional but clearly, trying to up the game into as many possessions as possible is working against them just like it did for many of Karls predecessors who attempted the same thing.
