Anyways, R.I.P. Steve Gohouri.

So far it seems like suicide.
He was missing for three weeks and his body was found in the Rhine river nearby Krefeld.
His family and friends had been really scared for him for some time cause he left his apartment leaving his cell phone and wallet at home. :(

"Have to go", doesn't sound like you're very excited.

Hamburg is a great city though, a lot of things to do. Do you have anything special in mind? You wanna go shopping or get drunk somewhere?

 I didn't mean it like that. The "have to" came more from the fact that I wasn't originally supposed to be on that trip; but since our CEO is going to be driving up from Berlin after he lands here, he wants a native speaker to make sure he gets there without any problems...thus the conveniently also-in-Berlin me getting shanghai'd into filling that role for him...

And not really looking to get sloshed, since I'm going to be driving the car he rented while he has his meetings. Though my tolerance is as strong as it's been in years, as my drinking has increased immensely with all of the good pilseners around...americans have finally learned to make some good beers, but there'll almost all IPAs/wheat-beers, while I was raised on Pils...so I'll probably have a couple.

I'm not much of a shopper; though I do still need to get a small christmas present for the girl I went to the hawks game with, and something for my not-ex, so shopping wouldn't be completely off base. Shame it's gunna be so **** cold this week, cause ideally I'd just wander around a pretty part of the city til life found something to occupy my time (maybe hit a museum if there's one that really stands out).

Millerntor was already on my list of possibilities. :P

And I'm on too much of a hotstreak in that department to tempt fate by checking out the Reeperbahn...although I did laugh my ass off when I was in amsterdam and started following a group of drunk brits as they wandered around the redlight district, loudly cheering every guy who walked out of one of those rooms.

Jesus; that's gotta be so **** hard on the family/friends. Suicide is almost always an incredibly painful thing to do to the people who love you, and though I can see why one who's decided to take that step wouldn't want to add to the trauma by forcing their loved ones to find their body; disappearing for weeks without even leaving a letter must just make it all the more devastating. :(

Not that it would make this story any less tragic, but I really hope that's not what happened and that it was some sort of kidnapping gone wrong. Then at least the family would have a less painful time coming to terms with it after they've had enough time to grieve. :( My heart breaks for the family Gohouri.

Maybe it sounds cold, but unless he was suffering from a physical (or mentally) debilitating/lethally destructive disease, I just find it to be selfish. Suicide is an inherently cowardly action otherwise, and it seems like he chose a bad way to go about it, as CGF said, his family was likely devastated and is now more so.

But, hey, Hunter S. Thompson did it in the room next to his family. At least figure out a better plan than those two extremes.

I really hope it wasn't a suicide, but the loss is no more or less meaningful if it was. **** situation regardless.

Rest in peace, it is definitely sad stuff. Hope all of you homies and your families have good health and a great year in general.

Well, there've been rumors about Gohouri being in financial troubles thanks to gambling and it seems like he knew no other way out.
Quite tragic given that he was a very good guy and always a joy to be around, as pretty much everyone stated that knew him.

I think the Hamburg nightlife is the best in Germany but overall I would say Munich and Berlin are better cities.

Seriously, I think we should keep the conversation in English

On topic: 55 mil for Sané doesn't sound crazy to me considering it's City. Schalke shouldn't sell him now, though.

Liverpool and Arsenal are both looking to pay £42 million for Aubameyang. I love the guy but man, that would be a lot of money to refuse.

Yeah, wrong forum. Realgm-Transfermarkt same sh*t haha.

But still it's a ridiculous price. He'll probably do well under Guardiola but I think it's wrong if he becomes the most expensive German player of all time. Players like Özil and Götze did much, much more before their big transfers. Özil was probably Germany's best player in the 2010 WC and Götze won B2B titles with Dortmund and reached a CL final. Sané is not even close to that level.

Yeah, but only in the summer.
Selling him now would screw up the team and might even sabotage the whole season, given that you won't find anyone near his level in the winter transfer window.

Anyways, seems like Kebab Galore in Stuttgart.
- Kevin Großkreutz will join Stuttgart from Galatasaray
- Stuttgart has also loaned Artem Kryvats of Dynamo Kyiv

In other news:
- Frankfurt have signed Scabolz Huszti, Marco Fabian and loaned Kaan Ayhan of Schalke
- Schalke might luck into Hakim Ziyech of Twente Enschede, given that the dutch club needs to sell(thanks to deep financial troubles) and with Schalke concentrating on him after they were turned down by Leicester for Gökhan Inler(not sure why they even tried)
- Max Eberl was spotted in a plane to Salzburg today, making it quite possible that Martin Hinteregger will be signed within a couple of days

Kevin Großkreutz must be the worst ever player to win the World Cup.

Lol this gross guy is idiot. He wanted to leave because he is homesick and he wants to be with his family while being 28 years old and making 1.7 million euro in which he would never be able to make in Germany. You are **** twenty **** eight years old grow up.

Yea, that's a given. There would be no way to reciprocate the fire power we would lose if we sell him right now.

The guy is a racist as well. He racially abused Gerald Asamoah couple of years ago.

Most of all, the guy's just dumb as rocks and his actions showed that quite a few times.
He also called then Greuther Fürth manager Mike Büskens a "Schalke Sau"(Schalke dirtbag, a$$hole etc.) during a cup game against them.

Watching him always brings bag one of Hans Meyer's famous quotes, which goes like that.
"Every football team has about 2 - 3 guys that are just plain dumb and would be living under a bridge if it weren't for football".

I'm down with both of these. Would love to see Ziyech in the BuLi, and Hinteregger would be a good get for you.

Well Schalke just brought in Younes Belhanda of Dynamo Kyiv.
They'll loan him for the rest of the season(€ 2M) and then have an option to buy him worth another € 9M.
They're also likely to sign Allesandro Schöpf of Nuremburg, paying more than € 5M.

Stuttgart also seems to be interested in Hinteregger, but they don't have the money and only offered € 5M, which Salzburg just laughed at.
They then tried for a loan with an option to buy but it seems like Eberl swooped in and supposedly got it done for about € 9M, so Hinteregger might join us for the start of training camp on Thursday.

Seems like Heldt is trying to make sure Heidel has no money available in summer when he takes over his job lmao.

Could be.
The first time I read your comment I thought it stated Heldt would make sure that Heldt wouldn't have money for the summer...

BTW:
- Hertha to sign Sinan Kurt from Bayern for about € 1M, with Bayern holding a buyback clause
- Jordan Morris(Stanford/USA) is currently on a tryout with Bremen
- Dortmund interested in Sofiane Boufal(Lille)
- Florian Kainz(Rapid Vienna) is said to hope to join Gladbach this month already

Oh, and Marko Marin is rumored to go to Galatasaray...

Yeah, that would make sense, too. Heldt always manages to stand in his own way lol.

Good for Hertha to sign him. That buy back clause is a killer, though. They are basically developing him for Bayern then. Shouldve rather paid 5 mil. then accepting a buy back clause. But of course Bayern probably says we are not going to sell without a buy back clause.
