Its noble that he means well and tries to win with whatever he has, but ts not the 1 game series format that college has. The NBA wins with talent...as you know...there -100% chance we'd come close to taking your Warriors in a best of 7 series. He should have tanked, acquired talent in a couple of "free pass" years, and went for gold as LBJ starts slowing down and maybe if your Warriors somehow become mortal. Gunning for the playoffs and making it with this team is detrimental in the sense that it significantly lowers our odds at having a chance at getting some top talent. Getting beat down by the Cavs for 4 games does absolutely nothing, no matter what the homers say. That seems to be the biggest disagreement on this board though
how's that tank going for Philly? The Celtics are not going to Tank. Nobody wants to play for a garbage organization. Danny is doing a great, great job rebuilding. This is a good young team with cap space, roster flexibility, and tons of picks. Teams, executives, fans and players around the league respect the Celtics and how they're approaching this.
Shocker...jumping right the the philly side of the spectrum
Let me know if the below sentence shows up blank since most of this board loves to ignore it
The Celtics could have retained all their players and still developed the young ones while soft tanking for a top pick
Tank is working out well for Minny. Their future is lightyears ahead of ours at the moment, and looks like they'll be able to add to it even more this year. Cap space means nothing if the team doesn't have any good star running mates for the superstars you want to sign. Most of our picks arent/wont be top lottery picks. Respect is when the other teams, execs, and fans dont want to play you in the playoffs out of fear that our team will knock them out. We don't have the kind of respect that counts yet.
And along with garbage organizations..nobody is jumping at the chance to play for a mediocre one either
I'm not so sure that Minny is light years ahead of us, or even ahead of us at all in the rebuilding process. Wiggins is overrated. They are simply taking a different approach.
We have the A rated coach. We have more draft picks. We already have a good roster. We are more likely to land free agents. The Celtics WILL WIN a title before the Wolves do. The Wolves are a farm system for teams like Boston. Eventually Wiggins and Towns will leave Minny just like KG and Marbury did.
