Who should we waive for a free roster space?

Post#1 » by gom » Thu Jan 21, 2016 6:41 pm

Some of our players are just dead weight.
Some are injured.
Here is a list of players on 1-year deals that can be waived without affecting next year's cap.
Choose the one (s) who you would prefer to go so we can sign players that can play basketball.

Stokes if we're going to waive them. We can't waive the others though because they would still be on the books for the luxury tax.

If we want to get rid of the others we have to find a team that's willing to take them without giving up salary back.

Stokes can at least play. Waive Andersen and pay the tax.

The operating income is $20.8mill he's supposed to fork over half of that for a .500 team?

We cut Mike Miller and pissed off Lebron to save a nickle when we had a championship team. You really think Mickey is paying the repeater tax for this bunch?

The Miami Heat has not had to pay to use the AAA, which was build by county bonds for $357 million. It sits on $38 million of county land; the county has paid $64 million in operating subsidies. I'm tired of hard-up stories about Micky Arison.

Well its not like I feel bad for him I'm just saying what the most likely scenario is.

Micky is an awesome owner who kept Wade here and brought Riley to Miami. I'd rather have that than Dan Gilbert who never had any success outside of LeBron James.

Stokes is garbage. He is worse than Beno and Bird. Then again, all 3 should go in return for a trio of D-League prospects.

Stokes is probably the MVP of the Dleague this year, great idea cutting him and losing his rights for 3 random D-leagurs we won't have any rights for. Love the logic.

Stokes's contract is gold. I hope you are right tonight, RBW, and he gets some time on the court. It might make a difference.

I think Birdman is the most logical choice but easier said than done.

Harlem or Andersen make the most sense. Their style of play is basically dead in the new NBA. It'll be Stokes, though, if we need the spot. And that's fine, too. Team really doesn't have a great success record on developing players.

Birdman costs $2.1M (his remaining salary) to waive. We have to pay it anyhow. All it will cost is the price of a replacement player and all we can do is get a vet min anyhow, so...

Between Bird and Stokes, we are looking at two Forward-Centers. So, it's an apples for apples comparison:

Stokes has one thing going for him. That's youth. But he is only 6-7 and can hardly shoot outside of 3 feet.

Bird, on the other hand, can shoot, knows our system and earned his stripes.

If you want to cut someone to improve our depth on the perimeter. Who is it gonna be?

We didn't have the rights to Whiteside neither. Yet we signed him and it worked out. Do you have a problem with that?

I easily cut Birdman. He hasn't been good. Stokes has been working hard at Sioux Falls and has excelled. We also have his bird rights at the end of his contract. Richardson as well, by the way... And we have early bird rights to TJ. Next year we have a draft pick at the end of the season (June 2017). Time to turn the page.
