Called going at Whiteside and failing to adjust stupid basketball. He said they didn't play smart basketball and should have recognized that he was going to take away shots if they drove at him. Said they had a couple games earlier in the season where they failed to adjust to rim protectors and they have to figure out how to change their attack in those situations.

Was clearly upset at the bench. I think Lamb, PJ, Lin, and Frank all played as little as they did because he was sending them a message.

i am surprised nobody asked end of game plays, the hornets were up 3 points with 1 minute left, then lost the game... i think that's the more crucial point of the game...

Would have been interesting if Lin hit that three, then there just needed to be a tip in.

Well, I guess not......

Poor play down the stretch, but to me it looked like a team that is still figuring out how to play together, which we are given all those guys back from injury.

This. It was especially evident on the second unit where there was virtually no cohesiveness all night. Guys still aren't quite 100% and people have different and inconsistent roles for the past month or more. Its unrealistic to expect there to not be any setbacks with our chemistry at this point.

yosemiteben wrote:If folks want to discuss our moderating, they have had lots of opportunities before now and we are all ears, but the game thread is probably not the best spot for that discussion. I feel like we've been relatively consistent. If you are only going to talk about one player or you are going to generally talk about players not in the context of the game that was played, take it to a player specific thread and not in the game thread. We've had this rule all season.

I've always thought the mods were great here. Last season was so thoroughly disastrous that I don't think there would have been a good way to effectively keep things in line even with the current crew staying on top of things. The chaos was more entertaining than the actual team so I didn't even mind it really. There was really nothing else to talk about other than how bad everyone on the team sucked.

With Batum and MKG, there is really no need for PJ unless it's garbage time. Lamb should definitely be getting all of PJ's minutes.

I think when Big Al comes back we will be at least a lil better. Should make the playoffs and anything can happen because the Cavs are just good at best so far

We need a new game thread. The negativities are too strong here, lol. Move on fellas.

TinmanZBoy wrote:let's rewind the last 4 plays of the game, see what went wrong for the hornets
the score was 93:90 after Kemba hit a clutch jumper, 1:10 left on the clock, Miami possession
1, Bosh came out to set a screen for Wade, Wade drove left, MKG chasing, he did not blow by MKG, MKG has the length and quickness to stay with him, but Marvin retreated and tried to help, which was on the way of MKG and slowed down MKG, Zeller could not protect the rim on time, Wade got a tough bank shot... 93:92
2, Hornets possession, MKG came out a screen, Kemba gave the ball to MKG... No lane... Nic came out off screen, MKG to Nic hand off, Wade was ultra aggressive, poked the ball loose, Nic got back the ball, gave it up to Kemba, Kemba came off a nice screen from Zeller, got a clean last second jumper, did not go in..
3, Miami Heat possession, again, Bosh came out on top to set a screen for Wade, no advantage gained, still Marvin on Bosh, however, Bosh dribbled and drove by Marvin, Marvin could not stay with him...Zeller could not protect the rim on time, Bosh got an and1... 93:95
4, Hornets trailed by two, 23 seconds left, Hornets called timeout, clifford was drawing a play.... on the other side, Josh McRoberts seemed to know what was coming, was talking to his teammates how to defend ;-)... the Hornets play is so predictable, Kemba inbound to Batum, Batum hand off to Kemba, let Kemba operate, Zeller came out to set a meaningless screen since Kemba has dribbled away, both Wade and Whiteside were in position to prevent Kemba's drive, Nic came off screen with, Kemba tried a bounce pass went away, turnover...
5, The hornets had to foul to stop the clock, Deng hit 1 out of 2, hornets trailed by 3 with 11 seconds left, one possession game, still got a chance to tie the game.... Time out, hornets
the hornets had no timeout left, needed to inbound the ball... they had a hard time to inbound the ball, the heats' pass rush ;-) was good, seemed no receiver open, Marvin barely received the ball before the 5 seconds violation, it seems the drawn play was broken already... kemba came out to get the ball, Wade's quick hand poked away another hand off, another TO... basically game over...

First, you got to give heats credit, particularly Mr. quick hand Wade.....but the hornets' end of game execution is so bad...I love coach clifford, but his end of game plays are so predictable... i bet Josh McRoberts knows all of them...
how about simplify the play a little bit, once Kemba got the ball, just clear the side, everybody retreats to the baseline, let Kemba Iso or Zeller comes back to set a top screen for Kemba... let him have space and lane to operate...
for inbounding the balls, this is not the first time Hornets had a hard time to inbound the ball... how about set multiple screens to free a receiver to secure the ball first, you have 11 seconds left to operate, it really should not be that hard to inbound a ball...

Excellent recap of events. I was really bothered with the play where Bosh scored. I have no idea why Marvin let Bosh get to his left hand. He should have pushed Bosh, at all costs, to his weak hand. The two inbounds plays were just horrific. I didn't mind the missed jumper by Kemba because it was a broken play, he got a clean look and the shot clock was on his back. The Heat really made all the correct plays on both ends in that last stretch and we did nothing right.

That Bish drive was on Cody.

He didn't come over to help and cut off the drive. Instead he stood there glued to Winslow - WINSLOW!!! - even though Kemba was right there anyway. They were both standing there like they were metal and Winslow was a magnet.

:o  :banghead: Do You want to know why we lost last nights game? It started with no rebounding and ended with turnovers down the stretch.Check the box scores and watch the replays. KW was involved in the turnovers and we did not have an adequate center in the paint rebounding. We needed a point that would distribute the ball and not just drive into the lane and shoot jump shots.
50 games down 24-26? We need to make a trade now to get to top 5 and not be 7th-8th seed and play 1 playoff series and be done..
KW,Cody and PJ for Rubio,Dieng, and Muhhammad corrects the rebounding assist, and turnover problems.

The game was so closed and we just lost it in the final 1~2 minutes. Some mistakes could have easily been ignored if we won the game by one or two points. Marvin had huge game otherwise the result could have been much worse. I would not blame Kemba and Batum for two turnovers in the final two possessions because they played heavy minutes after just coming back from injuries, they did very well otherwise. Everyone else seemed no much effective, especially Lin. I am not sure how Lin got so cold ( by minutes and performance) right after he had the best performance in the biggest win for Hornets this season. The coach put him back in final minute even after he was iced the most of the game, it was hard to explain. I would not expect Marvin ,Batum and Kemba to have 20+ pts in the same time for many games , so somehow the coach needs to figure out how to make all other players effective before it is too late.

Still upset about the loss...

This game was not lost in the final minute. It was a winnable game. We didn't play it the right way.
