I don't see how we (or any other team) could possibly sign Barnes this summer. He's a key piece of their success, he's going to be a RFA with Bird Rights, and his cap hit will only be $9.6M until he signs another deal. GSW will just waive Jason Thompson (his $7M cap hit would go down to under $3M) and they'd be roughly $14M under the cap. With no other moves, add in Barnes' cap hit and they're still $5M under the cap until he signs a new deal. Even after he signs a fat new deal with GS, they'd still have some wiggle room before the tax kicks in. GS is planning on losing Iggy to age/expiring contract after the 16-17 season, I don't see how they can also walk away from Barnes when keeping him would be so easy.
The only way Harrison Barnes is going anywhere now is if he gets offered Max money that the Warriors don't want to be on the hook for in 3-4 years... or if he is sent out in a S&T for a superstar, like the oft speculated "Durrant to Golden State" nightmare scenario that has been circulating. The Warriors have plenty of space to eat whatever Barnes' contract is next season, so other than a Max offer that GS doesn't want to pay to what will be their 4th best player in a few years, I don't see how the Kings have a shot.
