Any insight about this year's draft? As I recall, February/March was the time you posted them because they became relevant but not too close the draft.

It's most likely to be the 4-5 pick and he was the number 3 pick in a much stronger draft (plus he was projected to go 1 or 2 leading up to the draft.) He's averaging 17 and 8 in his rookie season so it's not like he's not living up to expectations. Defense is a concern but he's 20, he has time to improve - Love and Cousins don't play defense either and they've been in the league for years. It would've been a great trade. He'd be the number 2 pick in this year's draft. In what world is that not worth giving up the 4-5 pick for?
- He can't shoot.
- He doesn't get to the free-throw line.
- He isn't a great rebounder.
- He moves about as well as 1999 Patrick Ewing.
- He doesn't protect the rim.
- He doesn't guard the pick-and-roll.
- He has a minus-11.6 net rating on one of the worst teams in NBA history.
As I said in another thread: he is Al Jefferson with less rebounding and even worse defense. That wouldn't even be acceptable in the era where low-post bigs were prevalent; let alone now.
I am not trading a shot at Ben Simmons and probably the most powerful asset we have for that.
P.S. I really wish we would all stop using counting stats as a be-all-end-all. With all of the statistical data we have at our disposal now, we should be longgg past using a guy's point and rebound averages to determine how good of a player he is.

I dunno, last time i got the notification that we picked Portis danny changed his mind last minute, so who knows if that draft info will pan out again this year. It's been right since the Sullinger draft, but last year was a big biff.

Portis...pfft...yeah, Danny out-smarted himself on that one....just like the Perkins trade.

Why do people continue to say this? Perkins has been trash since the ACL injury. There was noway we were beating Miami that year with Perkins, nor was he putting them over the top in future years. He was actually a huge reason the Thunder lost to Miami in 2012 because Scott Brooks wouldn't stop playing him so much.

Just found that Woj article, which is pretty emphatic about the idea that Marc Gasol isn't leaving Memphis any time soon.

Gasol ain't leaving. He went to high school there before heading to Europe. I would say he's from Memphis. Moved there when his brother was drafted. That's legitimately home.

Because it was one of several factors in our early playoff exit that year. Our team chemistry was night and day after that trade. We looked amazing before it. And Miami was very beatable (as the Mavs showed us).
But there are other factors. And it's not Danny's fault as you HAVE to make that trade.

Yeah chemistry is huge, but I doubt Perk was the difference maker. If Rondo hadn't gotten hurt it's a much closer series. Honestly though, not sure anybody was beating Dallas. If Shaq somehow could have stayed healthy and Danny not wasted MLE on a totally burnt out Jermaine O'Neal (probably his worst signing ever) then who knows....never should have relied on Shaq to stay heathy. On a slightly less related note, I'm glad I got a chance to see that 2011 team live when they had Shaq and were rolling. Incredible how good even 39 year old Shaq was offensively.
