PG: Conley/Payton
SG: Oladipo/Fournier
SF: Durant/Hezonja
PF: Gordon/Ilysova
C: Vuc/Ezeli

or

PG: Payton/Jennings
SG: Derozen/Oladipo
SF: Durant/Hezonja
PF: Gordon/Ilysova
C: Vuc/Ezeli

If this was possible, could we compete with the big dogs right now? That's all that will matter to Durant in the end.

Ezeli is going to want money and to start. I dont think he comes here to be a backup

Conley/Payton
Oladipo/Fournier
Gordon/Hezonja
Horford/Smith
Vucevic/Dedmon

+draft pick

Easily a 45+ win team. Could see this team giving Cleveland fits. Now we pray that Gordon/Hezonja turn into stars.

Conley is good but why sign him?We could resign jennings

not sure the money that Jennings wants, but Conley is the better PG in my opinion. better defense, passer, very consistent. He wont give you a 50 pt game, but he will give you solid PG play every night.

and depends on how we spend the big money. But if Jennings wants to stay and signs a team friendly deal to give the team more money to spend on 2 other big names, i could be down for that. assuming he looks good thru the rest of the year.

Eh, I'll start with the Dallas Mavericks who have a maximum cap space of $57 million. I'll add more of the other teams later. While Dallas appears to have cap space, they also have numerous free agents and player options that not only reduce or negate most of that cap space but also effect the capacity of the team to look appealing to someone like Durant or any of the biggest free agents looking to win and get paid.

Player Option:
D Williams (5.6m or 8.4m c/h) D Nowitski (8.7 or 12.0m c/h) C Parsons (16m or 24.0m c/h)
Unrestricted Free Agent:
Z Pachulia (7.8m c/h) R Felton (6.0m c/h) C Villanueva (1.5m c/h)
Team Option:
J McGee (1.4m or 2.1m c/h) J Jenkins (1.1m or 1.6m c/h)

Nowitzki will more than likely opt in (8.7m), that uses up least amount of cap space and he is not going anywhere.
Williams 31 and earning 5m will almost certainly opt out to secure his last paycheck asap.
Pachulia is having a career year and only earning $5m. He will test the market to secure his last paycheck.
Parsons is a 50/50: if he opts in he cuts into the Dallas cap space by $16m; if he opts out his cap hold uses up $24m.

Cap Space (57.0m) less Nowitzki opt in (8.7m) = 48.3 cap space
Cap Space (57.0m) less Nowitzki opt in (8.7m) less Parsons opt in (16.0m) = 32.3 cap space

• If a player's cap hold is renounced, they can never be resigned over the salary cap.
• If their cap hold is not renounced, cap hold counts against salary cap space, but team can exceed cap to resign.

Jr Max = 21m | Mid-Tier Max = 25.3m | Vet Max = 29.5m

If Parsons opts in Dallas must decide between:

• Renounce Williams and Pachulia = 32.3m in cap space
?PG / Mathews / Parsons / Nowitzki / ?C
Barea / Harris / ?SF/ Powell / ?C

• Renounce Williams = 32.3m - Williams cap hold (8.4) = 23.9m in cap space
?PG / Mathews / Parsons / Nowitzki / Potentially Pachulia
Barea / Harris / ?SF / Powell / ?C

• Renounce Pachulia = 32.3m - Pachulia cap hold (7.8) = 24.5m in cap space
Potentially Williams / Mathews / Parsons / Nowitzki / ?C
Barea / Harris / ?SF / Powell / ?C

If Parsons opts out Dallas must decide between:

• Renounce Parsons + Williams + Pachulia's cap hold = 48.3m in cap space
?PG / Mathews / ?SF / Nowitzki / ?C
Barea / Harris / ?SF / Powell / ?C

• Renounce only Parsons = 48.3m - Williams cap hold (8.4) - Pachulia cap hold (7.8m) = 32.1m in cap space
Potentially Williams / Mathews / ?SF / Nowitzki / Potentially Pachulia
Barea / Harris / ?SF / Powell / ?C

• Renounce Parsons + Williams = 48.3m - Pachulia cap hold (7.8m) = 40.5m in cap space
?PG / Mathews / ?SF / Nowitzki / Potentially Pachulia
Barea / Harris / ?SF / Powell / ?C

• Renounce Parsons + Pachulia = 48.3m - Williams cap hold (8.4m) = 39.4m in cap space
?PG / Mathews / ?SF / Nowitzki / Potentially Pachulia
Barea / Harris / ?SF / Powell / ?C

Actually better than I thought for Dallas. They're going to be in great position.

O-Sen speculation has been that a portion of the 45M of cap space Orlando has is to be carved out for Fournier. In that the Magic is only to target one max-level contract.

Woj on Durant's free agency:

"Kevin Durant doesn't care if they have the first pick, the second pick, third pick; no free agent cares. No free agent of his stature cares what draft pick a team has because that guy is not going to help them win championships in the next two or three years. And if Kevin Durant leaves Oklahoma, he wants to be ready to win a championship right away. He's at a point in his career where he cant wait two or three years and hope that it happens. I think part of his criteria, sources tell me, will be, 'Is that team good enough to beat Golden State with me on it? Or is it Golden State? Or can I stay in Oklahoma and continue to be able to do that and compete for a championship?

"Listen, I just don't think that the Lakers are a real significant factor for Kevin Durant."

UCF wrote:DeRozan would be my top target. He's going to get paid very well this offseason. He's a big time talent but doesn't get the publicity he should.

He is a free throw machine, and having the best shooting season of his career despite his highest usage rate. The Tobias Harris trade makes much more sense if DeRozan is an off-season target. I think the Magic could do a lot worse.

That's what I am going for right there.

^^ Was just about to say that. The formatting looks very odd on this thread compared to others. The Teague & Hordford thread was like this as well towards the end.
