This wasn't happening in the previous summers and I don't know if it will lead to an official decision from Giannis part for the pre-olympics.
In the past when a crucial member of the team announced or declined to participate in a tournament with our NT it was followed with a very bad reaction from the greeks in most cases like Coufos for example. In Giannis case though it seems that the road is wide open no matter what he chooses in the end. Everybody loves him and will understand no matter what.
It seems that right now the main obstacle for a Giannis break in the summer is Giannis himself who has already said in many interviews that he will always want to play with the NT no matter the circumstances. The Olympics is a huge deal for everyone anyway though and even more for a rising young star and future leader of the team like Giannis.
I guess that after the end of the season Giannis will speak with Kidd and Katsikaris and he will make his final decision.
As things stand now Giannis is available for the pre-Olympics and Katsikaris will build the roster around him.
We'll see..
i dont want him to come for pre olympics games,he must stay there and practice shooting,if we go to olympics i dont know my greek gayros fan

And let's say that we manage to qualify. Who will give up his place for Giannis then my greek vazelos fan

? I'm not saying that any of the SFs/PFs even has half of Giannis talent but I'm just talking about ethical reasons. I mean let's say that Papapetrou will go and train with the rest NT for the pre-Olympics and then he also has some good minutes in the three games that will give us the ticket. How would you ask him to leave after that? It could cause some trouble in the locker room too. I think something similar happened for Spanoulis last year who joined a bit later the squad but he was injured and he didn't miss any official games like the pre-Olympics and in the end he was the veteran leader of the team. If Katsikaris can manage that for Giannis though I'm in.
PS: Congraz for your huge win yesterday. Olympiakos is playing at Barcelona tonight. Can't wait!
