Hillary is winning anyway, so the best thing the Republicans can do is reform and save their party. An open convention may be best in the long run.
And if they become slightly more moderate and less emotional on social issues, even by simply saying, let the states decide, they would be in much better shape.
Hillary is the only person that can stop Hillary.
I personally do not favor any of these candidates. This all seems pretty embarrassing. At least Obama represented something larger, although he too, I was not a fan of.
Open convention likely means an open revolt against the party. IMO, the best worst-case scenario at this point for the Republican party is for Trump to win the nomination, get his ass kicked by Hillary, and those supporters of Trump that clearly want something different will see that the lesser evil is to just support the Republican establishment. I am a Democrat and even I know that Hillary is not a good candidate but I see nobody on the Republican side (given the current math) beating her this year but she will easily beatable in 4 yrs. While a contested convention is not a new occurrence, I find it hard to believe that in this day and age it will be something isn't met with vicious opposition.
On the Republican nominees currently, I think I would be most disgusted with Trump winning just because it boggles my mind that anybody actually think he knows what the F*** he's ever talking about on any of the issues. Even if Cruz is hyper conservative, it's clear that he's smart, has a real vision, and would work hard to make it happen...even if I don't believe in that vision. Trump is just a clown.
