Re: Sources: Lakers teammates 'isolating' D'Angelo Russell after video surfaces
I don't know the whole story, but I think it's pretty insane to think that a rookie is trying to be disruptive as Nick Young has been for the Lakers. I mean I really don't care for Nick Young, but why should D'Angelo Russell care about Young's personal life? The whole recording/videotaping itself is pretty low, but it's even worse that a rookie has done this. Why the hell is he hanging out with Nick Young out of all Lakers?

Go to Vegas or NYC for a conference and every. single. one. is chasing girls.
I only say that because there's so much 'pearl clutching' in this thread.
You need new friends.
For contrast all of my friends have been married for 10-30 years and have NEVER cheated on their wives. Or maybe they have, but I dont know because they aren't stupid enough to tell me.
I only say that because young people may read your post and think that having a monogamous relationship is impossible. It happens all the time.
Don't be so sure. Maybe your friends just don't have the options to and/or maybe they don't do or talk about it around you because you seem like a snitch. Note: My pals are all late 20s early 30s, so they're still moderately handsome. I think cheating with random chicks tends to get a little more difficult as you age and become less attractive, travel less, etc.
I support what you are saying, but you'd be surprised, first, how well you can age if you take care of yourself, second, younger women are really attracted to older established men; educationally, wisdom wise, and financially; plus older guys understand women better than younger guys.....as a whole, not individually. But I agree with what you are saying.....

That's hard to believe. I got hacked is the oldest excuse in the book (okay it's not that old).

Did you just equate believing in monogamy to being a religious zealot?
Wow.... Just wow
I am saying people here are acting like religious zealots bringing up things like monogamy which got its basis from religion and are applying it to a sinful relationship, such as Nick and his girl, then saying Nick is wrong for cheating, thus being hypocritical. Be faithful while having premarital sex is to laugh. And for the atheists, why should he be faithful? Who cares? Who sets the rule of monogamy? If Nick doesn't value that rule, why is he a bad guy? Because you say so? or because God says so? They aren't married for the crusaders and why should it be a bad thing if you are not basing it on religion. Just two people who have semi-exclusive sex, in short people are hypocrites and Nick is no more the enemy than his "girl."
Your honor, I rest.
I hope that explains it, if not, who cares.
BTW: I read one of your earlier posts, you are in the Nick is in the bad guy camp POV, thus your consternation of my post makes total sense.
Yeah no I'm not in that camp. Both are douche bags. Russell broke the trust in the locker room and that's F'd up. Nick cheated on his fiancee and that's F'd up.
Your entire rational is messed up. You really think the idea of being in committed relationship prior to marriage is laughable? That's entirely messed up to believe.
Also your entire premise is that him and his girl had an open relationship. If they did fine. I have no idea. But if you don't know that's a pretty big leap.
In the end Russell broke the cardinal rule in sports and that's the story. But acting like Young is just some innocent victim is pretty damn horrible
Your opinion.

Laughable as if it is uncommon and there fore judge so harshly and spew vile towards Nick.Your entire rational is messed up. You really think the idea of being in committed relationship prior to marriage is laughable? That's entirely messed up to believe.
On the contrary Watson, I said no one has any idea, but yet they have passed judgment on Nick....my goodness, I brought up that point. Also your entire premise is that him and his girl had an open relationship. If they did fine. I have no idea. But if you don't know that's a pretty big leap.
Edit: and yes, Young is an innocent victim. Dude was minding his business in the sanctity of his own room having a discuss not meant for the ENTIRE world to hear so they could defame his character on such trivial garbage of a Hollywood couple's relationship. But see it as you please.

Surprise more people don't get those autheticators that require a code texted to your phone before you can login to facebook, ebay, paypal, twitter ect. Pretty hard to hack that. I mean if you can hack that, you should probably be doing something more productive lol. But yeah, I'd think hacking a phone would be significantly harder than hacking a social media account.

If this is true, this is a HUGE problem for Russell and the Lakers. He is your future star PG - and of all positions the PG is the mouthpiece of the Coaching staff and one of the leaders of the team but it makes a difficult position to master even more difficult when you introduce this unnecessary BS into the equation.
This is the NBA - players on the daily do things (esp. on the road) that let's just say may be morally questionable...the coaching staff see it, management sees it & most of all the teammates see it - there is a trust there that you don't air my dirty laundry & I don't air yours whether we as fans see this as unethical means nothing because that is the locker room bond teammates need to have/feel with one another.
When you can't break bread with your teammates or have connections outside of the arena it effects the performance inside the lines too somewhat - not everyone can be a lone wolf like Kobe and still do their mojo when the lights come on. Can you imagine what KG or Oakley would do to this kid if he was in the locker room...
This doesn't bode well for Free Agency too - the way NBA players are, they love the $$ but they also expect their teammates to keep the down low stuff in-house - they don't want to be clubbing after the game wondering if their starting PG is gonna start some crap for kicks or whatever. Russell already has a rep as a joker & immature dude - I think this sticks on him for a long while...

On top of all I said in previous post, I could see this melt away if Lakers get Ben Simmons in the draft. They are very close friends, and I doubt this incident that happened while Simmons was in college would tarnish their relationship. The rest of the young guys would just have to accept that it happened, and move on from it, and real veterans in the team like Kobe and Metta should step in and help them with that. What is done is done, unfortunately. Lakers can't let this dictate their progress in rebuilding, management shouldn't intervene directly, but ask Kobe-Metta to take D'Lo under their wing against backlash from other guys.

Screw cheaters. Young got what he deserved. Still weird and stupid of Russell to do something like this though. No team will ever trust him again.

It looked like Russell done Young a favor here, I mean he was dating a woman that looked like one of the Wayans brothers.

Russell would be a perfect fit for the Kings locker room. They love snitching on each other over there.

Well sure, thats why Parker's is actually more of a douchebag move. D'Lo's crime is motiveless, it is purely idiotic. What gain could D'Lo scheme for by videotaping Young like that
In time, I doubt this will be more than a reference to how D'Lo was a stupid rookie. I agree that it is an unforgivable action, but narrative always transforms in time, especially if D'Lo turns out to be a good player.

It's a long time from now to free agency. This story might just blow over by then. That's how the 24/7 news cycle works. There will be plenty of other stories to pop up and distract us.
Even before this happened, I didn't think the Laker players would be the reason free agents would sign there anyway. They're the 2nd worst roster in the NBA and play for a coach with the worst career record in NBA history. I think their top free agents will be Derozan and Whiteside (I'm not even wasting time on KD if I'm the Lakers). Derozan will get a chance to come home and be the top dog on his childhood team. Whiteside may like the chance to live in L.A. while making $21M a year.
Kobe casts a large shadow and there's going to be a power vacuum on the team once he's gone that a lot of players wouldn't mind stepping into. Don't by any means think Russel is the face of the franchise. He isn't. Like Kobe himself said, that person is still to be determined.
