You can look at tonight's game in one of two ways:
Strength In Difficulty: For the Clippers, no Chris Paul, no Blake Griffin, no DeAndre Jordan, no J.J. Redick, no Paul Pierce. They don't have Branden Dawson either (word is, he's out for the rest of the season until the court issues are resolved). It's the bench's chance to prove they can finally win a game for the starters. If they do, it'll give the Clippers that element of surprise when the playoffs arrive. Opponents will not know what hit them because...
Opponents Aren't Taking The Clippers Seriously: The fatal flaw of the bench is the worst kept secret in the NBA. Doc's bench is comprised of players who played for him before, who defeated him in the past, and his own son. They don't rebound and they don't defend. Opposing teams have shredded the Clipper bench to the tune of 27 losses, one game worst than last year's 56-26 record. The Clippers bench should be patty cake for elite teams like the Warriors, Spurs and Thunder to feast on. For the Thunder, they thought the Clipper bench would play like their usual selves. That thought process is the main reason why the Clippers are leading.
