I missed the game - Who did Mario/Evan & Ersan match up against? Looks like Smith swapped Center with Dedmon.
First off - Great to see the game starting to click for Mario. It's going to be hard to keep him off the court if he can play defense, facilitate and shoot the ball. At 6-9 you have to start to wonder when he overcomes anyone at the 2 position, possibly 3 if Gordon moves full time to the 4. That trio of Oladipo/Evan/Hezonja, coupled with contracts is going to create some challenges for management to figure out. What a good problem to have really.
One bright spot for me looking at the stats was Ersan. Getting traded, learning a new system, health and now his first game getting this much burn as as starter opened my eyes a little. He's 28 years old can shoot the 3 and apparently blocked 3 shots last night. It makes you wonder if there's more to him than what the stats have shown. Would a full training camp, a starting position at the 4(in his prime) not be worth looking at? I looked back on his seasonal stat's only but it appears that whenever he had atleast 10 touches a game he had his best statistical seasons. Honestly don't know without looking into things deeper and the surrounding players he had but it's makes me wonder if he isn't better than he's shown and the right situation could help him blossom for a few years. Allowing Aaron to play the 3(moving to the 4 later) and then you have the challenge of who to play at the 2/back up 3 between the trio I mentioned above.
What did everyone see in Ersan this game and is there more potential there?
