I promise you D Will will opt out and will promptly bump this thread when he does @knickstape. Role players care about security more than anything. D Will will try to get a multi year deal somewhere and hopefully we can affordably retain him. You might have a point with Jennings but I can very well see him signing a multi year deal as well.

So Phil Jackson is a failure is what you are saying. No one is coming here according to you?

I'm not exactly Phil's biggest fan, but I wouldn't deem him a failure because he couldn't draw 3 stars in better situations to come play here. Phil will get more role players he thinks fits the system as he tries to build a winning culture.

Role players are nice. What is critical to this teams future is getting the top of rotation guys. Need 2 players better than Lopez. Not 4 more lopez's.

Might be able to sign a new top 3 player on this team. But imo the only chance is trading for 1 first.

Trade for Jrue. Then you might have a shot at a free agent.

Been hearing too much of Gerald Henderson's name today.

If we actually sign him, then there really is no hope for Phil.

Phil needs to be shown the door

Go almost a full season with Grant being dogged by coaches and now he gets time because vets want to rest dem fannies. total bs

the way grant was handled this year is why i cannot stand jackson in a nutshell

Grant is a natural pick and roll guard. everyone and their mama can see that. a quality pick and roll guard in the nba can be like gold if you use them right. but these a-holes were benching this kid all season long for freelancing and not being a triangle drone. seriously fuq them. fuq phil and his loyal triangle slaves and the horses they rode in on

I think some outsiders who don't watch the games like you might underestimate our players in general but Bazemore is a solid player. More talented than Carroll with more potential. Not the team offensive or defensive player Carroll was. Far more of a SG than a SF. Hard worker. Fits any system. 3 and d player. If we don't keep him, it is far more to with our need for a starting SF with size than his ability. His fit is good but we need more size at that position. He is definitely someone we would like to bring back if we can't get the SFs we covet.

You know thats where we are heading...

We have the triangle to elevate him into being a great player :D

I doubt the triangle will elevate him. I think he will stay fairly the same type of player he is. Might improve his skills with continued development but I don't see a big improvement per say.

My thing with your team is you need a PG. Not sure Rondo is a good fit but he might be the best available. How do you approach that?

I'm okay with going after players who fit the triangle. It's basically well-roundedness: be able to shoot, pass, move without the ball, post-up. Any championship level team will have players that fit that mold. Most of the Spurs/GS players should be able to do all these things within our system. A lot of their sets incorporate it.

Honestly, the triangle itself might require more time than Melo has...more time than Phil has...more time than the NBA allows these days with 4 year max contracts. The more I think about it, the more I realize we're missing time. We need guys who know each other and know the system, who trust each other and develop chemistry. Our team can't be reliant on a guy like Rajon Rondo who makes transcendent passes that make you go "wow." Our team, as a whole, needs to be able to do that...that takes time. It doesn't take the triangle...probably many systems can do that.

The thing I'm worried about is Rambis, and Phil's fixation with the triangle. I get that the triangle is awesome and won championships, but you still need the right coach and team to implement it. I'm not sure if Rambis is that coach (actually feel kinda sad for him, even though I bash him), and I'm pretty sure that our team doesn't respect him or trust him. Maybe we can rebuild and keep him, but Phil has no stomach for the rebuild. That's a recipe for failure. I'm pretty sure we could get another coach that could earn the players' respect, but have a different system, and eventually end up with a worthy squad. But again, the triangle.

The more I think about it, the more I think it's fool's gold to expect championship level play next year. But maybe we can build towards something better. I hope.

So we're going after smart, unselfish players that can move off ball and hit shots? Somehow I have no issues with this...

There is as much chance the Knicks will win the championship with the triangle as the arena they play in gets renamed Madison Triangle Garden.

The problem is guys like that, that are actually really good (to the degree the Knicks need them to be), don't grown on trees and would be near impossible to get.

That is true for every team in the league, whether they are looking for "Triangle" players or not.

It's not like the Knicks wouldn't pursue prime Kobe if he was a FA in July
