Don't quite understand the last part of your comment about Cassell's "sytle of play" making you think he was not a future head coach. I recall him as a heady player and an oncourt leader who was often responsible for getting his teammates in the right position on the court.
In the last several years of his career, he would typically pound the ball for most of the shot clock looking to post up the opposing point guard or settle for mid-range jump shots. His style worked fine for him, but it's not a style I would want my young players to emulate.
