I find it hard to believe that he is 260 now, and that is what he would need to be in order for him to have gained 20 pounds from his listed weight of 240.

I wonder if he was never really 240?

He definitely looks bulkier and more ripped.

If I had to guess, he was slightly over 230 as a freshman with a tiny bit of flab. He shredded the excess body fat and gained additional bulk. He's probably slightly over 240 now.

Simmons is a big guy, but probably not 255-260 pounds big.

Once his traps, shoulders and chest fill out, he's going to be monstrous, though. He probably can carry a legitimate lean 250+ on his frame. Like prime LeBron.

Imagine how much more he will weigh if he ever decides to wear a shirt again

2. L.A. Lakers
Brandon Ingram | SF | Duke
Freshman | 18 | 6-9, 196
Insider info: In a draft many consider to have a significant dropoff after the second pick, the Lakers will be happy to "settle" for whomever the Sixers pass. Ingram is the player the Lakers would have targeted at No. 1 had they won the lottery, sources told The Vertical. He is a perfect fit for their roster and should generate a great deal of excitement about the future
-latest mock draft from Givony

Lol. Like anyone really believes the Lakers would have taken Ingram 1st if they had the top pick. The lengths people go to try to talk up a player is embarrassing.

Jonathan Givony is going to look like a fool for ranking Ingram above Simmons in about 5 months.

I personally think he has some kind of agenda, like how Woj demands info and access from players/agents or trashes them if they don't play along.

Simmons and/or Rich Paul must have blown him off, so he's been on a campaign for awhile now to trash Simmons.

Seriously.

Of course they put the word out that they would have preferred Ingram now.

Still, I believe all of the BS about Ingram underwhelming in workouts isn't a big deal.

The Lakers should be thrilled to get him at 2, as we would have been thrilled to get him at 2.

I can't see the full rank, did Jonathan Givony rank Simmons #3 ??? because I see Ingram #2 there so I'm assuming Simmons is #1 ??

DX had moved Ingram to #1 and Simmons to # 2 a couple of months ago, but it has been back to Simmons #1 and Ingram #2 for a while now. It was during the typical over analysis of the long time presumptive #1 pick phase that we go through every year, plus was likely a bit of click bait and contrarianism.

Can anybody find that post that went on about Givony and Simmons' past? I want to re-read it.

Does anybody remember replying to it at least?

I think that Givony prefers Ingram, but a mock draft after the lottery takes place includes predicting what teams will do, and not what they should do.

They really ought to just do what Mel Kiper does, and emphasize his big board instead of his mock draft, at least before the lottery happens.

Givony STILL has Ingram ranked as his #1 overall prospect with Simmons at #2. In the mock draft he has Simmons #1 because he would look like a complete idiot if he didn't as everyone knows what's going to happen.

I'm glad PHI got the medical record and the dinner meeting. Brett is a pretty clutch guy to be on staff for this decision. I haven't heard much out of BB on Simmons but he probably has as good a read on Ben as anyone. I'm cool with Ben coming to PHI. He definitely looks ready to compete in the NBA and we're going to play fast. Good ****!

BTW, I listened to an interview with Howard Eskin and DBodner. I'm not local so I don't hear much Eskin but he was kind of down on Simmons and preferred Ingram. It sounded like what I've been worrying about since we got the #1 pick. I found myself in a bad place, marooned on Eskin Island! I was surely wrong.
“This may be one of the best jobs in basketball right now,” Colangelo said at a press conference introducing him as the new GM of the 76ers after Sam Hinkie resigned.
