I hate that small markets like Utah don't have as good of a chance as the bigger markets because they would be awesome with a really good free agent added. I hope they get one because I like the way they have built their team so far.
Disclaimer: Trades I post shouldn't make you stressed or angry if you disagree. If you say it's unproductive because it won't happen and we're only allowed to post deals that actually happen, it takes away 99% of trades here and the fun out of the board.

The hawks don't leak anything--like ever. So this sounds very much like it's agent driven.

Except Durant's agent really has no need to drum up interest. Dwight OTOH.....

Yea I was really just referring to Dwight, I should have stated that. I don't know what to make of the Durant part. :dontknow:

So you're telling me the Hawks have aspirations to sign a top 3 player? I have aspirations to win the powerball.

Needless cheap shots aside, the Hawks have actually done pretty well in free agency. Millsap and Joe Johnson were both major gets.

Hawks have like the entire Mt Rushmore of great non-max FA signings. Korver, Millsap, Carroll, Bazemore etc.

The teams listed in that article interested in Horford seems a little soft though IMO. Only two playoff teams trying to get that guy?

The Hawks, of course, face a stiff challenge in trying to retain Horford, who sources say is expected to draw free-agent interest from a number of teams, including the Lakers, Rockets, Orlando Magic, Detroit Pistons, Washington Wizards, Boston Celtics and Brooklyn Nets.

Most playoff teams only have room for one max spot, and that's likely reserved for KD until he makes his decision known.

Well, that was a nice jab but it is a nice thing that they are trying to get into a meeting because it will allow us to change the course of our franchise that we don't signed marquee FA (last one was Deke about 15 years and last superstar was Nique). But Durant team should atleast hear them out because they are very good in player development and new training center.

Won't bother embedding the tweets because people generally won't care much, but

1) The Wolves have declined the option on Damjan Rudez, making him a free agent. At least he can shoot, might pick up a vet min contract somewhere?
2) Richard Jefferson is apparently *not* retiring. Glad to see this, one of those classy older guys I respect.

RJ wants to play 2-3 more years. That's good to hear. He clearly still has more left in the tank. Lebron rejuvenized his career.

Uh no. He was good last year in Dallas and was even better the year before in Utah. If anyone should get credit its the Jazz. He was just on a stage he hadn't been on since his failed Spurs runs so you must not have noticed. I mean he did this last year in Dallas (sorry but any excuse to post this I'm gonna do it., :D )

Bontemps says presuming max contract offers, Conley, Horford and Batum are all expected to re-sign with their current teams:

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/sports/wp/2016/06/28/al-horford-nicolas-batum-and-mike-conley-seem-likely-to-re-sign-with-current-teams/

Alsoooooooooo

Tim Bontemps wrote:What is known so far is Durant doesn’t have much interest in meeting with several expected suitors for his services. The New York Knicks, Brooklyn Nets, Los Angeles Lakers, Houston Rockets and Washington Wizards — all teams with hopes of at least getting an audience with one of the game’s great players — currently don’t have any scheduled. And, barring a change, it will stay that way when free agency begins July 1.

And on the Ibaka trade:

Tim Bontemps wrote:“It’s a good move,” he said. “I like Oladipo. He’s a good buddy, a friend of mine, and I’m definitely going to miss playing with Serge. He contributed so much to our organization and to the city, and he’s a pioneer for what he’s done for us and it’s always going to be remembered in OKC what he’s done for the community and his hard work on the court, so we wish him the best.”

yeah its just too much money to give up with the larger raises and those massive 5th years. Which is why I hate that Dallas is making Conley a priority. I just can't see how he leaves.

I suspect both the Cavs and RJ will take it one year at a time.

I remember like 2 years ago thinking Washington saving cap space this far into the future was a bad idea.

Well it was and it wasn't. If they could have continued to build on what they did 2 years ago I think its possible that a backcourt of Beal/Wall could have been attractive enough to KD to at least get a meeting with him. But they did a really poor job on managing their assets and putting together a more competitive team in place ahead of time.

It almost has the feel that they thought his connections to the area would be enough and that was always foolish thinking.

If nothing else, this offseason is shaping up to prove your point that the incumbent team always holds the advantage in FA talks. Though that's perhaps influenced by salary this year more than most.
