Except that's not how it works, the Chris Paul trade was vetoed because at the time, the Hornets were collectively owned by all the other owners.
Except that is how it works. The league can stop trades from happening with or without ownership of a team. There was a bunch of talk over whether they would block a Kevin Love trade to the Cavs. The whole **** over the Paul thing was a question of a conflict of interest.
And the league doesn't really care about tampering in regards to early discussions with players who are about to become FAs right before the deadline, but they definitely do in regards to teams meeting in person with someone under contract with another team. Which is why this whole notion of them going to meet him is ridiculous lol. When have we ever heard of a team doing that?
