Except that when he was a free agent, barely anyone went after him and interviews with anon GMs, many stated that they are unsure if he will ever fit a true role due to his inability to guard SFs very well.
So when people criticize us for trading him for cap space I just laugh. Would you rather extend Aaron Gordon or have Tobias Harris? According to people who don't watch the Magic, Harris is better. If you watched the Magic you would probably rather retain Gordon even though Harris has put up better numbers since he has more experience.
It's annoying to read but nobody else watches Orlando. Wait until a year and then go read the Thunder mods opinions of Oladipo then. It will be fun, trust me. A lot of people are in denial about what they have or what other teams have. Then they see it in person and after a few months they accept the truth. Until then as Magic fans we simply have to hope our guys develop as we expect.
If you watch the Magic you probably know by now that Evan Fournier is a better fit for us at SG than Oladipo and Gordon is a much more talented player than Harris. Additionally we can now probably keep these guys long term since we don't have to overpay Oladipo next year and carry Harris's salary so he can come off the bench. That's going to be OKC's issue and DET's. And trust me, when it comes time to put ink to paper, their opinions will change.
Barely? Lakers, Boston and Detroit were reported to have pursued him.

Also, reportedly, turned down a max offer by the Kings

The Tobias Harris deal wasn't a matter of Aaron Gordon or Tobias Harris, it was about what we got in return. Aaron Gordon's minutes are obviously a good consolation, but come on.. lol
And looking back, if we're just going to be signing Jeff Green for almost the same amount that we signed Tobias, I'd still prefer to keep Tobias.
Jeff Green signed a one year deal. Harris signed a multiyear deal though 2019. You can't compare these.
