Baynes is almost certainly gone at the end of the year and will likely get $10+ million from someone. I expect our draft pick will be in the early 20's so its a minimal loss to upgrade our starting PG to an all-star.
Is he really that much better than RJ (pretty close to a all-star in my eye, also one of the most clutch players in the 4 quarter last year)? I truly believeWall is a me first guy too. I don't want or like players like that. Wall is about to get paid $10million more than RJ too. Is it worth it? No
He's still pretty far ahead of RJ cause he plays good defense as well. He's basically a 20 and 10 player with good defense.
He's had one season even close to 20 & 10 while trying to play for his next contract, and not playing well with his teammates. The situation in the locker room is so bad, Wizards are constantly rumored to be actively seeking trades for their "20 and 10 player with good defense". Reggie might not put up 20 & 10, but he puts up all star numbers, while playing within his team, and more efficiently. He's also on a better contract for the team than the one Wall is expecting.
Don't get me wrong, John Wall is a very good player. But he's a bad fit for our young, impressible team and will want more money than we can afford to give him. Giving up multiple assets for him is a terrible idea.
