In your head, yes, this is true.

In reality, you're in the minority if you think Trump and his campaign wasn't built on that.

Why do you think so many people are grieving and reacting the way they are today? It's not because Hillary was some awesome candidate that was robbed of presidency.

His campaign was built on making promises to disaffected blue collar workers who had largely voted for democrats in the past. The people who got flipped in this election were people who voted for Obama the last time. Unless Obama isn't actually black, its hard to call them racist.

Were there racists who voted for Trump? Of course. However, those same racists likely voted for Romney the last time and McCain before him. The republican party has a rather large sub group of racists that support them. Donald Trump didn't create the racists. They were always there.

Racists are always going to vote. I mean, they are citizens of this country after all. But the difference is that Romney and McCain did not appeal or build their campaign around racism. Trump didn't create the racists, but he cashed in like hell on them.

If Trump ran a campaign of decency, you would not be seeing the reaction of today. The story would simply just be about the stunner of Trump being an inexperienced politician who pulled off one of the biggest upsets ever. Instead, it's about a racist, xenophobic buffoon who has alienated minorities, harassed women and will soon be the leader of our country.

Why are they acting like that? Because they are giant sissies of the politically correct movement who pretend their worlds are crashing down when they hear something they don't like.

you know what political correctness is in the mind of trump supporters who rail against it? common decency. consideration for people different than one's self

and a whole lot of trump voters sure do hate political correctness, don't they?

Plus the fact that they thought this election would be a landslide and expected that their party would be handed the election on a silver platter didn't help either.

completely false and i'm pretty sure you know it

Considering our first black President has to be more diplomatic in that hour than the guy who owned the birther movement has been collectively in his entire lifetime, I think yeah, calling that awkward is accurate.

You are right. It is not the end of the world. It's just a blatant example of how **** up our world still is.

Didn't a person in Hilary Clinton's circle start the birther movement?

Hey kids, the secret word of the day is.... "OWNED"!!!!!!!!!

AAAAAAAaaaaaarrrrrrrgggghhhhh!!!!!!

There is debate about the origins of the birther movement, that is fair. There is little actual debate on which candidate embraced it, made it their platform for public attention, and continued with any of that in any meaningful way during this political season.

There are three reasons why liberals constantly resort to calling anyone who disagrees with them a racist, mysognists, sexists, etc.:

1) To make themselves feel better and morally superior.
2) To receive the adoration and praise of fellow liberals and thereby make one another feel better and morally superior.
3) To avoid having to debate the issue at hand on the merits.

Those are the reasons. Engaging in honest, open debate is not the goal.

there is actually only one reason in the vast majority of cases: that the person/people they are calling racists, misogynists and sexists have exhibited that behavior

Celebrating what? The KKK is utterly irrelevant. This country is unrecognizable compared to the 1960s, as in lightyears ahead.

I would say there were far more racists fired up to vote against Obama than to vote for Trump and it wasn't enough, so this logic just smells bad. This election was about much more than that.

Nobody is saying racism isn't a problem in this country (at least not me), just that it is not the reason Trump is the PEOTUS. It's the people trying to make that out to be the case who are just further dividing people. It's crying wolf and at the worst F'ing time. It's just the last thing the country needs right now. Call it like it is. Hillary lost because she didn't give enough people a reason to vote for her. She needed to come up with a vision not a bunch of rhetoric. The same rhetoric people are sick of hearing. The best her campaign could do is keep repeating that "Trump is a racist, narcissistic, sexist, mean idiot". "He sucks so you have to vote for me" is just not gonna cut it. Sorry Hillary. The Democrats have nobody to blame but themselves here. What an opportunity they had and they pissed it away.

hillary was a bad candidate. there have been bad candidates before. the working class is struggling. it has for 40 years now. what separated the donald trump campaign (one built on a racist conspiracy theory) and the supporters behind him was the overwhelming quantity of racists/xenophobes in his voting base

the numbers bear this out. paying attention to things he has actually said bears this out

Do they? The numbers look remarkably similar to Romney and McCain across the board with white voters. I mean, as has been said, Trump actually got less percentage (1%) of the white vote than Romney and McCain. He also got nearly 30% of the Hispanic vote. These were the biggest surprises. It is clear that many of the same white voters that voted for Obama must have voted for Trump here.

The truth is that women, and the non-white vote were both so much higher than expected for Trump that ironically it is the college educated white woman and the percentage of the Hispanic vote he got that put Trump over the top. Those were the huge deviations from what the pundits and pollsters were expecting. I just think that the percentage of "racists and xenophobes" in his overall support base being exaggerated and in reality not much different than most other recent election cycles. Those people are out there, we know that. They've just been more vocal this time. And I agree that Trumps disgusting behavior has made them feel less inhibited to be public about it. Sad, but that's where we're at.

Yeah... Whatever you think of Hillary as a person/candidate, her team messed up. They could have been positive and never saw a positive ad until the last day while Trump was saying he will make America great again every day.

Plus, they ran scared and fell into his trap. It's like a basketball game. Do you impose your will on GS or try to play the free 3pt shooting game when you face them. You will lose.

For all her details on policy, she could not simplify those policies into simple sentences we can remember. That's my take.

I think this is a mischaracterization of their respective campaigns. Clinton did go mostly positive. Trump went super negative. Do you remember the conventions?

Clinton/DNC **** up in a lot of ways, but I don't buy this one.

That's not the point. Trump was always negative because he was running on the anti-establishment platform. Every time I put on the TV or on the web, it was all about Trump's rhetoric and his stupid comments. I never saw Clinton's comments about what she can do ...specific things in a sentence or two for any policy.

She had to use Michelle Obama's "You go low, we go high". That is what I mean. A candidate has to inspire people to come and vote. And, it's not just on Hillary. It was upto her campaign to figure that out. She had a lot of positive things to sell but focused too much on highlighting his issues.

I can remember last winter, unlike most of his supporters.

Washington (CNN)Donald Trump is trying to clean up a racially charged controversy Monday after he refused to disavow former Ku Klux Klan grand wizard David Duke over the weekend.
When asked about his comments on CNN's "State of the Union," Trump blamed a "bad earpiece."

"I was sitting in a house in Florida, with a bad earpiece," the brash billionaire told NBC's "Today" show. "I could hardly hear what he's saying. I hear various groups. I don't mind disavowing anyone. I disavowed Duke the day before at a major conference."

So yeah, I'm over giving the benefit of the doubt to this piece of **** again. Sorry.

Been there, done that. Not doing it again. Or again. Or again. Or again.

Or again. Or whatever.

He is extremely obtuse. And his head is not level, it's buried in the sand if he honestly fails to recognize the racist aspects of Trump's ascent.
