He seems to be getting a pass because it's accepted that this is just temporary, but he's still going to be playing 16-18 mpg, and the way he's playing isn't acceptable even for a backup PG.
38% FG, 9% 3FG, 67% FT with almost a 2:1 FGA to AST ratio. The only thing he does adequately is assists, and for every assist, he jacks 2 bad shots on deplorable efficiency, negating even that as a positive.
Meanwhile Beno is shooting 44% FG, 39% 3FG, 92% FT and his AST/48 is almost the same as Ish (9.5 to 10.3). Meaning there is literally nothing to justify playing Ish over Beno. So will Stan bench him and go with Udrih? Or will the politics of his contract keep him in the rotation even if it costs us games?
Well, the bench mob is more constructed toward Ish's favor. Guys like SJ, Bullock (if he plays), Leuer, and Baynes are smart and more system oriented players, while our starters are more akin to creating something (looking at primarily on Morris) which sometimes fail and the onus is on Ish to make something happen.
Plus, I remember Ish playing a lot better once he was relegated toward a more staggered/bench role in favor of more younger players taking his minutes.
But I do agree, Beno is a proven vet and should start seeing more minutes.
