Well technically David West took a pay cut to play for the Spurs. Doubt he had a market for him this season, but yeah I definitely thought about that. Messed up to lure West here with Championship hopes to trade him in December (but if ya don't do ya job ya gots to go)

Anderson Varajao can be substituted in the trade however, but trade checker said he has to approve of a deal first.

West had a player option with the Spurs and declined it to sign with the Warriors. You still want to trade him?

He has had his struggles, but I think it has to do with grasping the system he is in(even if it is somewhat familiar to him) and just chemistry playing with new teammates. I think he will be fine in the role the Warriors want him in.

Looked at 2-3 articles and never seen where it said he had a player option with the spurs. He signed a one year minimum contract with them and signed a minimum contract with us.

West, 35, harbored no regrets about turning down a more lucrative financial situation with the Pacers to join the Spurs.

West played just nine minutes during San Antonio's final game of the postseason. He had a $1.5 million player option for the 2016-17 season, which he declined.

ESPN.com's Michael C. Wright contributed to this report.

Not sure where you are reading, but that part of the West story is sort of hidden, but it is there.

West signed a two year deal with the Spurs with a player option for the second, 2016/17 season.

Yeah I know. It would send a bad message to all ring chasers and veterans and not a good look for Warriors management to trade him after he came here. But Gerald Green would be a nice addition if he still has his athleticism which I believe he does.

Varejao can be traded for Green as well though. It works.

I posted this in another thread but I'll post it here too for future reference. Bob Myers says "We're not trading Klay"...http://www.csnbayarea.com/warriors/bob-myers-makes-definitive-statement-about-klays-future-warriors?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter

I'd encourage folks to look for tape of Gerald Green playing good defense against anybody.

You'll be looking for a long, long time. It's basically like looking for a unicorn.

It you pursue him, its with the expectation that he will play high-volume streaky offense, and absolutely zero defense.

David West and Varejao aren't exactly killing it on defense. Those are the guys i involved in the trade.

Haslem isn't a shot blocker.

There is a HUGE buy-low opportunity with Robert Covinton in Philly right now. He couldn't be playing any worse than he is and the Sixers could probably just send him to the D-League, that's how poor he has been. A change of scenery might be just what he needs.

Ian Clarke + 2nd rnd pick for Covington.

Let's add on Looney for Richaun Holmes; make it a package deal.

I ahven't watched much of Holmes, but I'm hearing good things as an undersized beef cake rebounder/shot blocker type. If he has a big motor, I'd be down. Not because I don't like Looney, in fact I really like Looney, but those hips worry me big time for his long term success.

Clarke/Looney/2nd for Covington/Holmes

At this point, I can only hope and pray for a trade to be honest. His shooting is so bad, but he keeps jacking it up. I'm a little Crabbey about it right now.

I would equivocate this for someone offering a backup/fringe starting SG + a 2nd for Klay
No team can afford to sell assets low, but if I had to pick a team that really, really, really couldn't afford to sell assets at a discount, its the 6ers

Super unrealistic, but bored and banned from trade board.

If push came to shove, would you guys consider something around the following:

GSW out: Klay, Draymond
In: Boogie, Stanley Johnson, Marcus Morris, Nerlens Noel, Casspi

Boogie/Noel/Zaza/D.Jones (D. League?)
Morris/D.West/Casspi/Looney and/or McAdoo also sent to D.League?
Durant/Iggy/Stanley Johnson
Iggy/Stanley Johnson/I.Clark
Curry/Livingston/McCaw

You guys get a premier big to form a truly unstoppable inside outside game. Marcus Morris is savagely underrated, and Noel is still young and hopefully can still be molded into an effective inside presence. Casspi is a vet that could add quality depth, and his game is a pretty decent fit for how the dubs play. I think you guys would have the flexibility to add a significant player via FA if required, but replenish the team with quality depth through this deal.

Detroit out: Stanley Johnson, Marcus Morris, Tobias Harris, lotto protected 1st
In: Draymond, Rudy Gay, McLemore

Drummond/Boban/Baynes
Draymond/Leuer/Ellenson
Gay/Bullock
KCP/McLemore
Jackson/I.Smith

The Pistons get a hometown guy, who could potentially be a great fit with Drummond. They pay a high price, but would have decent flexibility to improve the roster around those two.

Kings out: Boogie, Gay, McLemore, Koufos, Casspi
In: more favourable of Sixers/Lakers 2017 1st, 1sts/options returned from PHI, Jahlil Okafor, Tobias Harris

Okafor/Papagiannis/WCS
WCS/Tolliver/Skal
Tobias Harris/Matt Barnes
Afflalo/Temple/M.Richardson
Collison/Lawson

The Kings move on from Cousins and look to turn around a quick rebuild. They would be looking at 2 likely top 5 1st rounders in what appears to be a pretty decent draft. The Kings would obviously try and target one of Fultz, Smith or Ntilikina with 1, and ideally Taytum/Jackson/Giles with the other. Add any of those 2 to the other young pieces - Okafor, WCS, Skal, Papagiannis - and you start seeing something resembling a talent base. Essentially a turbo-Hinkie.

76ers out: more favourable of Sixers/Lakers 1sts, Kings pick/options returned, Okafor, Noel
In: Klay Thompson, Koufos, lotto protected Pistons 1st

Embiid/Koufos/Holmes
Ilyasova/Saric/Simmons
Covington/Klay/Luwawu
Klay/Henderson/Stauskas
Sergio/McConnell/Bayless

Colangelo give up the farm for Klay without actually giving up the farm ;). If Embiid and Simmons can stay healthy, that would be one of the most intriguing "Big 3's" in the league, and due to their respective games, Klay would "get his" and could put up Harden/Westbrook numbers.

Not as exciting but what about JaMychael (sp?) Green. He's gotta super low salary. No idea what Memphis would want. Maybe we can give them Crapadoo, pay the difference in salary, and send them a future 2nd. (??)

Don't think Green is going to start for us, but he can contribute off the bench. He's a bouncy player and seems like he can pass and rebound.

How much better is he than Looney and Crapadoo? What do we give up to get him? Seems like a minimal, lateral move.

I think he's significantly better than Crapadoo. I don't think McAdoo would be starting on Memphis right now. Green is.
He's not injured so... he has that over Looney. While it is a minor move, i think it would be an improvement. Whether or not its worth a 2nd rd pick... yah - don't know.
