Another player made to look great by the legendary Spurs system, it seems like every year there is one.

Re: Talk To Me About Davis Bertans
He's a much better shooter than Kristaps (which isn't an insult to KP), but he's not anywhere near the level of big man. He's not just a shooter, and he wasn't in Europe. He's great in transition because he's long and athletic. He knows how to finish at the rim. He'll eventually start to get back-door lobs to counter people overplaying the shot.
On D, the dude doesn't have great lateral quickness nor a great understanding on how to defend on the perimeter. He's an excellent help defender, though. He's going to have to eventually become a full-time big, boarding better and being able to defend in the post. Issue is that with his knee injuries, he may not be able to put on enough weight.

Imagine what he could do if he didn't have a missing finger.
Surely Kawai can spare one of his extra tips.

Makes me laugh when people say he's just a big shooter... Yeah he's 6ft freakin 10 with elite shooting mechanics, knows how to be a role player and has tremendous feel for the game.
That's significant as hell!

oversimplifying things.
no, they are looking for good players with great attitudes that can fill in the roles on the court. spurs are never looking for "stars". he was good before and is now showing it. even more so in the right system.
he was a good player with great potential but then he blew his knee. twice. that put some breaks on his career

Not saying he's a scrub just saying he's made to look better by that team. We'll see how does for the rest of the season it's only been 14 games.

I wonder where was the legendary system for James Anderson, Ian Mahinmi, Dejuan Blair, Livio Jean Charles, Kevin Martin.
Spurs know how to use a player to his strengths. They've mastered it. But there isn't miraculous system there or anywhere in the world.
Bertans has always been a good prospect, in Europe and in the NBA. If San Antonio knows how to use his strengths, good for them and Bertans.

As strange as it sounds, that gap actually serves as kind of an alley for the ball to roll down. It assures a straight shot. Anybody serious about being a good 3-point shooter will chop off a digit. That's the future of the game.
Also, that's why we've never had any Yazuka in the NBA. They always chop off the pinky first. Gutterball every time.
Tom Gores' Securus faced a class action lawsuit in 2024. The company engaged in a "quid pro quo kickback scheme" with county jails in Michigan which banned in-person visits in order to maximize revenue from voice and video calls.

I give some credit to their scouts. They've been able to draft players, with late picks, who end up being productive for the team.

Saying that any further endeavors of technical skill and imagination were pointless, experts at the Smithsonian Institution reportedly questioned Monday why new art was still being produced after the pinnacle of aesthetic and creative potential was reached in 1990 with Megadeth’s fourth studio album, Rust In Peace. “As the unquestioned apex of the entire history of the creative arts, Rust In Peace is the finest and last necessary piece of human expression

haha sick article. Rust in Peace is a serious classic...right in line with Master of Puppets in my opinion. Holy wars...Hangar 18...Thrash metal probably should have stopped there, but then it continued on to Tornado of Souls, where Marty Friedman ended guitar solos for good. RIP

With this new cap, it will be incredibly easy to fry all these Euro role players from European teams, for what is to NBA teams now, a pocket change. I am still a bit shocked no one offered Bourousis a contract, or did he really declined them all?

He's very old for a rookie so some of it's to be expected, but I don't think you could name five rookies playing better than Brogdon.

A nice article from a couple of days ago highlighting how Murray is making his teammates better, which is great for a rookie that has been switching between both guard slots.
