would that hurt his trade value if teams "know" he is out of position?

if it works out - there goes the logjam.
if it doesn't - he or nerlens goes?

Cov-Ersan - Joel
Saric - Jah - Noel
Holmes gets some of Jah/Noel's minutes

No, you bite the bullet and trade him to the 1st dummy that still believes he's good, and get on with attempting to create a good basketball team.

add to that Dario's recent success at 3, like during the team's defensive finish last night. yeah, the twin tower, big line-up, now with Noel coming off the bench as well, is no sure thing. but we'd be idiots not to try it while we got the chance. shoot, the seeming increasing interest in our bigs includes Boston fans thinking of Okafor playing next to Horford and the Wolves fans thinking of Noel playing next to KAT.

Done. Gimme Marcus Smart for Okafor now please. It would be a 'two for one' problem solved: Okafor out of the way and no more TJ McConnell on the court for defensive purposes.

Celtics fans are probably still trying to trade RJ Hunter and Fab Melo for him somehow.

So now people are on board the Dario at SF train. That's a bandwagon that I started up a while ago right along with Okafor at PF. Covington at SG is my most recent revelation. The Sixers have a huge team. A bunch of guys that would be better at a position that the head coach doesn't insert them in. Okafor/Holmes are PFs. Ersan/Dario are SFs. Covington has more value as a SG because his length causes havoc defensively when it is combined with the other long players on the defense rather than having a 6'3"-6'6" SG on the court like most teams. Stauskas at PG is another one.

I'm still not on board though it's more of a possibility now we have Ersan.

And see how they treated Saric these days after he posted several good games even he's still ranked dead last in RPM of all the PF. Just pls tell me its not all about personal and double standards.

I'm a little disappointed that Okafor didn't get the chance to play against the Pelicans. That would have been a good chance to showcase him to the Pelicans' idiot GM. The Kings game cancellation, was another missed opportunity. Two of the few GMs that are 'ripe for the picking', and Okafor missed the chance to impress them.

I would take Langston Galloway in a heartbeat for Okafor. We can add T.J. to replace PG minutes they lose from the trade and it makes it a perfect financial match, too.

Pels won't do that till Jrue comes back and can prove he can be healthy for a stretch of games

The Pelicans don't view Galloway as a starter, given that he's not a distributor. Even in the game with us, Tim Frazier started at the 1.

The only way Langston fits as an ideal starter for them is if he's playing off-ball to Tyreke Evans in their backcourt. Tyreke doesn't look like he'll be back anytime soon. So with Jrue out, it looks like they'll keep rolling with Tim Frazier as their PG.

With Simmons coming back soon, Galloway would fit like a glove at starting PG for us. And would be an even better back-up if we upgrade the position with a Markelle Fultz or something through the draft.

I'm not going to get my hopes up for that. If they trade Okafor, Im convinced it's going to be for a name player or former underperforming lottery pick. They're not going to want to deal with the media backlash from the media, for trading a top 3 pick for an undrafted free agent type.

Tough to tell since Colangelo didn't draft Okafor, and we need to start putting complementary pieces around Embiid.

I agree that it could be for a Exum, Stanley, Hezonja type. And Smart does seem to make sense for both teams.

Marcus Smart is a valuable contributor, but he might be cast too far out, offensively, to ever reign in. Brad Stevens has really done an awful job developing and managing him as a player. I'm convinced he's afraid of Marcus. This dude is jacking up 5 threes a game shooting 29% from beyond the arc. And he's not even trying to be the facilitator he was at Ok St.

I think more and more fans are getting smarter and understand Okafor isn't that good. You still have your fans who blame everyone but Okafor and think he will be a great player but I think people will understand if we only get a bench player who is just meh for Okafor. We can't get a name player for Okafor anyway. I don't even think we could get name player who is the king of hollow stats on his last year in Rudy Gay for Okafor

I think Jah has really improved his trade value immensely this season. He looks somewhat passable as a defender and we already know he's solid on offense.

He obviously doesn't make much sense with embiid patrolling the paint . And he makes zero sense to pair with Simmons who looks like a young LeBron as far as his penetration and passing ability.

Embiid/Simmons is nasty as a pick n roll if Simmons ever develops a shot but until then teams will just go under the screen.

Thankfully he doesn't look like he needs a screen he can just go turbocharging into the lane. You surround this guy with shooters obviously which saric, covington, and embiid all are. And stauskas possibly (MAN THAT KINGS TRADE LOOKS EVEN WORSE NOW)

As such, Okafor is the odd man out.

While he's young, uninjured, and on a great rookie contract I'd try to move him for someone who actually fits the roster but I can see keeping him one more year for insurance vs embiid if you don't wanna pay nerlens the max or darn close to it. (Face it he's getting it just look at mozgov, Noah, Plumlee deals for reference)

Trading out the rather weak PG play of Rodriguez OR leaving him on the floor as more of a catch and shoot player will be a huge net benefit for Philly.

Given the cap space and talent on this team I think Philly is a playoff team or darn close (35-41 wins) NEXT YEAR. The bottom of the east is quite competitive but they are fairly capped out with aging rosters.

I also think coleangelo will make some dumb signings that will move them closer to treadmill than championship aspirations.

Those draft picks are killer though. Long live hinkie

Sorry I meant to say simmons/Okafor as a pick and roll. It just won't be effective until simmons develops a jump shot and as such he doesn't make sense with Okafor.

I don't know about that. I read comments on these sites and listen to the older Philly basketball writers when they are on radio. The writers on Liberty ballers can't even write a serious article with Okafor's name mentioned, without these maniacs shouting them down. Many fans still think Okafor is a great talent. And many of those who don't think he is great, still think he's infinitely better than guys like Norman Powell, Josh Richardson and Langston Galloway. Basketball writers like Dick Jerardi, John Smallwood and Marcus Hayes will go Ape-Sh.. and lead a revolution of the dimwits, if the 76ers trade Okafor straight-up for any players like that.
