If the answer is no then they should absolutely explore trade options over the next 12 months. Thats when his value will be highest because teams would get him for multiple years. Im not suggesting they give him away but if a good package was on the table it would be maximizing an asset. The worst thing to do is wait too long and either lose him for nothing right when the young guys are starting to come into their own or deal him in the final year of his deal when his value is lower.
I agree with this. I'm not displeased by Eric's play in any way.
He started the season slow but that's to be expected given he was coming back from a season lost to injury. But this idea that we are losing because we don't have a pass first guard really perplexes me. If there's a point guard out there that can turn Tucker, Chriss, Knight, Dudley, Chandler and Len into solid scorers, I haven't seen him. Sure, Chandler used to be a little more effective but this Tyson is not the Tyson of 5 years ago. He's still effective but he's slower to react and less mobile than prime Chandler. And not even prime Nash is going to make Tucker a threat. But we can't take the risk of re-signing him to a major contract so move him now before it starts to look like a "must sell" situation.
He actually started the season with fewer TOVs, more APG, higher FG%, and more TRBs. People keep saying he's playing better, but sandwiched in-between the 10 Asst gm on 11/25 and his latest 9 Asst gm, there was 6, 4, 4, 2, 4. Three of those games he had a .435, .385, and .294 FG%, with two of those being O'h-Fers in the Tre' department. He's not getting better, and yes, I have recently been able to see more of the play as of late, and I'm not overly impressed.
And not on solely you, Zelaz, but how come our rookie PG can manage Asst Ratio of 28.1 to Bledsoe's 20.4...he plays on the same roster, right? And likely with 'lesser' talent, I presume?? Or how about our SG Barbosa with almost an 18 Asst Ratio--only about 2.5 below Bledsoe--before some excuse comes in about Ulis' much smaller 'field of evidence' to compare to. The fact is, Bledsoe is, in fact, the maker of his own bed he lies in. Yes, there are other factors, but it amazes me to see the excuses that come out of the woodwork for the likes of him, while others on this roster are vilified while shooting over .400 from 3, or over .100 FG% for one Center and .067 FG% higher than last year, yet are being told are not 'good enough' option 'inside' this year. Hate to tell you but it was the same guys last year, and they played worse last year. But I suppose it's Chriss' fault at .438 or Dudley's at .465??? Hate to tell you but Markieff was an awesome .397 FG% last year while with us.
So no, I'm not buying "it's the roster's fault" because ONE player, Tucker, is playing worse this year by a little bit, and certainly not anywhere near 'worse' than Len and Chandler are 'better' this season.
