yeah I agree, Wall and Booker would be lethal. I know a lot of guys in here have huge hard ons for Warren (which is fine) though.

Is Wall on the block? Does Watson seem ready to move on from Bledsoe? I think the answer to both questions is no.

I agree but what players do we talk about in here that are being shopped publicly?

As for the idea I'm wondering what McD will do this summer. After the long term commitment plan last summer I'm surprised he didn't get more years added onto his contract. Is this the last year of his deal or next year?

Pretty sure this is the last year. I just think we addressed PF in the draft so I don't see what they would want to trade for right now. They seem pretty high on Len and he played great that last game. They seem high on the starters and rookies. I guess it all comes down to what Sarver is expecting and is communicating to him as usual, but I don't see the point this year. The 8th spot may be up for grabs because I don't know if Portland can make it but outside of that I think we develop while some of these teams get older. Memphis is getting older (except for Troy Williams, new starter, of course) and although playing very well, they seem injury prone. Tony Allen and Zach older. The top 3 are set, Utah ahead of us. I think we keep our picks and stock up on youth and have super depth and a young team that gets better. 1 lottery pick this year, probably 1 or 2 next year, or at 2 mid first round picks (1 if Miami is really bad). I like having a team with a future down the line. Not depleting us to reach the 6th seed at best likely and losing in first round. I just can't see us getting to second round no matter who we could trade for unless it was LeBron.

If everyone gets healthy and significantly improves we can start talking about the playoffs. More than likely nothing is going to change for a couple years. I can't seem to find McD's contract details but you're right about it expiring before next season if he's still on the original deal.

Just put in perspective about how much consistency is required to put stats like Westbrook does.
I dont even like him as a player, but dear god... he brings it in EVERY GAME.

The guy in the embodiment of competition. The fire this guy brings to the court, I've only ever seen it in Kobe.

The Detroit Pistons have assigned forwards Stanley Johnson and Henry Ellenson and guard Michael Gbinije to the team’s NBA Development League (D-League) affiliate, the Grand Rapids Drive.

This is the perfect moment to trade for Stanley Johnson. They can choose from any combination of Tucker, Knight and Chandler plus some protected pick and we can take Boban to match salaries.

I couldn't agree more. Stanley Johnson would be a great fit for the suns. The pistons are just wasting his talent

I agree that this is the perfect time for SOME team to nab Stanley, but I don't think that team is the Suns. Would love his defense, but we already have TJ, and we shouldn't be too eager to trade for players who have found their way into coaches' doghouses, IMO.

Would you do Bledsoe + Chandler for Val, Patterson and "Brazilian Durant"?

I don't know if you've been on the trade board, but there are all sorts of Raptors fans posting Valanciunas trades to us......for Bledsoe and Chandler, or Chandler and a first or whatever. I don't know enough about him other than if they all want to get rid of him it gives me pause, especially to give up much.

So teams wants to get rid of those centeres:
Greg Monroe 17/13/4ast per 36min
Jonas Valanciunas 16/12 per 36min
Enes Kanter 24/11 per 36min
Nikola Vucevic 16/14/3ast per 36min
All have good stats but seems they all have low value around the league. Scoring centers with bad defense aren't much desired those days.

Unless you are part of the 80% of the Suns fanbase that want more offense out of our Center...aaaannnnddd...I'll stop there on that point...

Image

But...it wouldn't be a bad idea to have some 'variety' to our rotation at the 5, instead of having to guys that give you a similar game--BLKs and TRBs, so Valanciunas wouldn't be a bad idea, but ORL would have to take Chandler back, which I don't see as being a bad idea either; maybe he could 'mentor-up' a still young, 24YO Biyombo, like he's seemingly done for Len, to some degree.

So if we could some how get Bledsoe, Knight, and Chandler to ORL, and in return, receive Payton, Gordon, Vucevic, and likely have to take back Jeff Green as well, to make the money work, then that might work for both teams, to some extent, or get a 3rd team in so we don't have to have a mega trade with so many pieces...but us getting Payton, Gordon, and Vucevic, and ORL getting Knight and Bledsoe would be key, I imagine, to the trade.

This would TECHNICALLY work, but not sure I like so many pieces moving back and forth in a two team trade:

Stanley is only going down for a game for a confidence builder per the Pistons board. I guess he's this years Ryan Anderson?

Second... Watson and his terrible coaching and system.

Defense? Tempo? Offense?
More like Isolation.

Not his fault, imo. Our only scorers are guards. What are we supposed to do, utilize Bledsoe-Booker P&Rs?

How useful would prime Amare be on this squad?

I usually agree with you cosmo, but I can't on this. We have plenty of decent shooters on the roster; heck, even Chriss (.438/.300) and Bender (.389/.324) are shooting as well as, or better, than Bledsoe is. Then look at Barbosa (.475/.467) and Dudley (.465/.418) and it's not even close. Even Len is shooting .490, up from .423 last year, and Chandler is up to .688 from .583 last year, soooo, I'm not seeing a good excuse here...Tucker is the only one down from last year, and Bledsoe played better last year, so I'll need more than "our Frontcourt can't shoot" as a viable excuse. Even Warren, though his %s are slightly down some from last year, his total production is up (as is his Defense). And TBH, Bledsoe's numbers have improved since Warren's been out; I hope that is just a coincidence.

where will Stanley Johnson play?

He meeds starter minutes to reach his potential.
Does that mean one of Chriss and Bender is traded?

If Warren gets traded for Cousins... Definitelt want Stanley Johnson to replace him.

I still really like Warren as SF but if push comes to shove and Kings demand him as a piece for Cousins I would have to do it.

bwgood77 wrote:Why is everyone talking about trading Bledsoe after a game like that? Sure I'd like a superstar pure passer hall of famer point guard but they don't grow on trees.

Neither do players like Bledsoe. And he did have 9 assists tonight to 1 turnover. Obviously that won't be the norm but give the guy some props.

I seriously doubt we are going to trade him, at least any time soon. There are no signs that point to that.

Then I think that is a problem, tbh. Next season, trade deadline, at the latest, I see one of two things happening: either 1) we trade Bledsoe, who is a 'contract' older than all our youth, and draft a stud PG this season and sign a solid, ball-movement vet PG, or 2) we trade good portion of our youth/draft picks for two All-Star, or darn-near-close-to All-Star-level Front-court types to go with Bledsoe and Booker and/or Warren, so we can compete now.

But how we are built now?? three so-called 'plus' vets (Bledsoe/Knight/Chandler) plus some rookies, who aren't getting 'burn', and a few vets to fill in the holes. We are 'in-between', and imo, we need to swing all the way one way, or the other--within the next year or so, cause this 'ain't workin'.

I understand why some fans think Bledsoe is a cornerstone... 17/5/5 is no slouch.

But I think he isnt the best fit to lead a fast tempo offense. We all watch the games... He is loves the ISO play and everyone else ends up ball watching.

I think Kyle Lowry would be better suited for the Suns... He has proven he can get 8apg and he can be a high impact player without dominating the shots.

If Bledsoe was a few inches taller... He could be so dominant and be a more reliable go to scorer but he isnt and he can be stopped at the rim if teams put a strategy in place... Sadly though he doesnt create enough plays for others when that situation happens.

Here we are talking about Bledsoe's future with the team. But perhaps what we should be more concerned about is Tyler.

Tyler's looked the best of all our PGs thus far, in my opinion. And to my mind, the biggest question we are soon to face as a franchise is - is Tyler our future starter or future backup?

The reason for the urgency is the plethora of point guards available in the upcoming draft. Do we need one? Or should we focus on other deficiencies (defense on the wings, interior play, front court scoring)?

If Tyler is so good that he is undoubtedly part of a three-man backcourt rotation going forward, is there a guard we could draft who would be able to play 1 next to Booker and 2 next to Tyler, to our satisfaction?

I want to see what the kid's got. If for no other reason, we should reshuffle the deck in the backcourt to get a better look.

We don't know what we have in Bender and Chriss. They are raw and we need talent at every position. If we can get someone like Stanley Johnson for Tucker (or Knight) and a pick we can play him at SG, SF or even PF (he is really strong). He is an all around player.

I would like to see him start at some point, but I don't expect he will be quite good enough to start on a high caliber team. I think if we want to be a 2nd round playoff team or better, we need someone with more size who makes more of an impact.

Pretty much what it would take to get Cousins (and then some) If Booker/Warren/2017 1st are off the table, then it would start around Bledsoe/Chriss/Bender/Len/2018 Miami 1st/2018 1st, but we would also have to take back a bad contract like Mahinmi as well.

Wall will be expensive. Too expensive.

Then Divac can take a long walk off a short cliff. We keep tanking and focus on the draft.

If the answer is no then they should absolutely explore trade options over the next 12 months. Thats when his value will be highest because teams would get him for multiple years. Im not suggesting they give him away but if a good package was on the table it would be maximizing an asset. The worst thing to do is wait too long and either lose him for nothing right when the young guys are starting to come into their own or deal him in the final year of his deal when his value is lower.

I agree with this. I'm not displeased by Eric's play in any way. He started the season slow but that's to be expected given he was coming back from a season lost to injury. But this idea that we are losing because we don't have a pass first guard really perplexes me. If there's a point guard out there that can turn Tucker, Chriss, Knight, Dudley, Chandler and Len into solid scorers, I haven't seen him. Sure, Chandler used to be a little more effective but this Tyson is not the Tyson of 5 years ago. He's still effective but he's slower to react and less mobile than prime Chandler. And not even prime Nash is going to make Tucker a threat. But we can't take the risk of re-signing him to a major contract so move him now before it starts to look like a "must sell" situation.

He actually started the season with fewer TOVs, more APG, higher FG%, and more TRBs. People keep saying he's playing better, but sandwiched in-between the 10 Asst gm on 11/25 and his latest 9 Asst gm, there was 6, 4, 4, 2, 4. Three of those games he had a .435, .385, and .294 FG%, with two of those being O'h-Fers in the Tre' department. He's not getting better, and yes, I have recently been able to see more of the play as of late, and I'm not overly impressed.

And not on solely you, Zelaz, but how come our rookie PG can manage Asst Ratio of 28.1 to Bledsoe's 20.4...he plays on the same roster, right? And likely with 'lesser' talent, I presume?? Or how about our SG Barbosa with almost an 18 Asst Ratio--only about 2.5 below Bledsoe--before some excuse comes in about Ulis' much smaller 'field of evidence' to compare to. The fact is, Bledsoe is, in fact, the maker of his own bed he lies in. Yes, there are other factors, but it amazes me to see the excuses that come out of the woodwork for the likes of him, while others on this roster are vilified while shooting over .400 from 3, or over .100 FG% for one Center and .067 FG% higher than last year, yet are being told are not 'good enough' option 'inside' this year. Hate to tell you but it was the same guys last year, and they played worse last year. But I suppose it's Chriss' fault at .438 or Dudley's at .465??? Hate to tell you but Markieff was an awesome .397 FG% last year while with us.

So no, I'm not buying "it's the roster's fault" because ONE player, Tucker, is playing worse this year by a little bit, and certainly not anywhere near 'worse' than Len and Chandler are 'better' this season.
