The less talent you have offensively, you're usually better trying to slow it down because fewer possessions is more likely to make the game closer and give you a chance of getting lucky and winning. Trying to run and gun against Houston and beat them in their own game while undermanned did not make sense.

Sure, Houston was also pretty non-existent on defense and gave up 116 pts / 112.5 Drtg to the Clippers, but the Clippers basically couldn't even defend. Interesting game, Felton and DJ made it interesting, but if you're going to have a 103 possession game when undermanned you're likely to get beat handily.
