It's a moot point now because they've already started the search; and it may sound stupid because the NFL business is pretty much consist of small world where everyone knows each other in that industry (so why hire a consultant when the circle is so small and thus you could do the search yourself). For that reason I'm sure it sounds stupid to spend money on a consultant to help you sort out options... but the Yorks seems clueless in being able to identify the people with the brightest minds to do this job. Spending a couple hundred thousands on a firm to do a diligent search on our behalf and then provide us with reasons why a candidate would be best suited for that particular position is not a bad idea in my opinion. The Yorks need all the help they can in getting a right GM and I'm not so confident that they'll be able to not let their own biases interfere in the selection process.
Of course they don't. That's a ridiculous assertion. Just ask Jed, or his pal Pargie (yes, I'm intentionally spelling his name incorrectly every time I spell it from now on unless he does something that rremotelyresembles a positive move for this franchise).
Of course, I'm being completely sarcastic. I envision this search will go as poorly as they all have with the exception of stumbling upon Harbaugh who happened to say "Sure, I guess."
