not really at his peak. his stamina has lot of room for improvement ;)

I don't mean that he is in peak form endurance wise. I mean that he is in peak form in terms of muscle to fat ratio, and total weight. When he was trying to lose weight the extra sugar was counterproductive. Also, let's not forget that most of these guys drink alcohol, and Joel doesn't. He is still on the positive end of the spectrum when it comes to drinks overall.

Also I don't see any stamina problems with him other than general issues ramping up his basketball fitness which is to be expected. He has no problems playing at a high energy level for all of the 28 minutes that he is allowed to play.

His legs are still improving week to week, or at least month to month.

i agree with most of that, but i dont agree he has no problems in his 28 mins. he still plays only on 5 mins stretches at most at once. you just can see hes out of fuel at the end of these stretches. its just a matter of time until he gets to that peak shape and that point is probably by the start of next season. so i really dont worry about that and nobody should. #trusttheprocess

Messing around on basketball reference...

Joel Embiid could become the first rookie ever with a Rebound and Assist percentage above 15 (currently - 16.0, 16.7) and a Block Percentage above 5 (currently - 7.7).

He would join Shaq, Duncan, Olajuwan, Kareem, Robinson, & Bogut as the only qualified players to ever do it in any season in their careers.

Bump the Block Percentage up to 6 as the qualifier and he'd join Duncan and Olajuwan as the only qualified players to ever do it in any season in their careers. Bump the Block Percentage up to 7 and he'd be the only qualified player to ever do it.

So the way that he's dominated up until now has never really been done before - let alone by a rookie. Lets hope he keeps those numbers up.

His passing has gotten better week to week. He had a few classic big man assists in this last game where he was given the ball in position, threatened the basket, drew the second defender, and quickly made the right pass to an open shooter.

He should get 2-3 of those a game once he gets some more experience. We need to make the defense damned if it doubles, and damned if it doesn't.

Fyi, block percentage is skewed in favor of today's players because it's based on opponent's two point attempts, which is obviously much less these days.

May be skewed, but doesn't change the fact.

Embiid needs to fight for better position in the post. When he get's the ball on the block, he's deadly and it makes it harder for the double team to come from the foul line. When he gets it a few feet from the block, the double team hedge from the free throw line prevents him from taking his man to the center of the lane. Anecdotally, that's where most of his turnovers come from - the mid post. But Embiid likes the mid post so he can face up his man. He needs 1) to develop his mid post game more so he doesn't get all the turnovers, and/or 2) he needs to fight for better position on the block (i.e. closer to the basket).

The stat itself is a fact but the conclusion that the way he's dominated up until now has never really been done before is off when it's partially based on that stat. Still amazing numbers but just putting it in context.

Ah, gotcha, thought you were referring to the stat, not embellishment.

On the real, I can totally see him as part of a WWE storyline in the offseason or as a superstar when he retires from basketball. He has the size, physique and personality/charisma for it. Then again our front office might advise him not to risk injury needlessly given his history.

They should have it in his next contract for sure.

NBA needs to officially remeasure him.

I really don't know why the NBA doesn't re measure people.

Jason Collins was a "7 footer" when clearly he wasn't. Kevin Durant is the opposite. He's not 6 foot 9. He's closer to 6'11 (6'10 without shoes).

Embiid is clearly 7 foot and change with no shoes. and likely closer to 7-2 with shoes. I'd like to see him with KP tomorrow against the Knicks to see his true height.

I have been looking forward to him standing next to KP for a while for just that reason. KP is a little over 7'1 barefoot, and Embiid should be about the same give or take half an inch.

EDIT: Porzingis is 7'1.25.
