Then two games later, after a crushing defeat in Memphis, Ezeli once again started giving a team speech, but he was cut short.
McCollum interrupted Ezeli in midsentence and told him that was enough, sources told ESPN. Portland was in the midst of an emotionally draining December, losing 11 of 13 games. Players were desperately pouring out every ounce of effort trying to change the trajectory of the season, and being lectured by someone who wasn’t even playing wasn’t received favorably.
Geeze that's rough. I wonder who's idea it was to have him addressing the group. He should never have been in that situation. I can't see him putting his hand up to do that, so it must have been one of the coaches. Poor player and team management, and Festus gets burned. I feel bad for him, but don't blame McCollum or the group either.
Apparently that's exactly what happened - Festus started piping up on his own, not provoked by coaches, and was shut down the second time. And I can't say that I blame McCollum or others from telling him to put a sock in it.
