)..
Aren't you guys trying to compete too? You've been winning a ton and Melo could carry you to the playoffs. After all, your chance of winning it all with Melo will be the same as ours. Why wouldn't you want to trade your best asset for that?
we have zero 30y borderline allstars on the roster, nor an allstar-starter, nor good vets to surround them...so no, the situations are completely different.
I guess I have to spell it out for you.
We're not going to win a title this season. A 32 year old Melo isn't going to change that. We're not going to make short sighted franchise decisions because we signed a 30 year old fringe all-star. IT is a nice player, but, to this point, he's yet to lead us beyond 2 wins in the first round. Sacrificing the unprotected pick of the by far worst team in the league to try to win now via a 32 year old declining player is absolutely moronic and I seriously question the intelligence of anyone who advocates that path.
For what it's worth, it's also a gigantic overpay. Melo is 32 and has been declining for 4 straight years. He's not worth the BKN17 pick. He's not worth the BKN18 pick. He's not worth Jaylen Brown.
Now I need to ask you: are you seriously advocating we dramatically overpay for an old and declining Melo to try to beat Durant/Curry/Klay/Dray with IT/Horford/Melo? GTFO
