They have so many guards on the roster and potentially may draft another one in June. Danny has some hard choices to make but it seems obvious to even a casual observer of this team that we need rebounding and another scorer. I like Richard Holmes in Philly. Maybe Smart to Philly for Holmes and that french guy they drafted. Give them Zeller or young as well. Or Smart to Golden State for a first and a player. I also think Amir johnson is a shell of himself and needs to be moved as well. Honestly I'm ready for rebuild number 2. This roster does nothing for me. If you could get a decent package for thomas I'd do that as well.
I wouldn't object to trading him and that deal you proposed to Philly would have interest as I liked both those guys leading into their respective drafts. The thing with Smart, for me, is he is a very versatile defensive option for a team. He can compete for stretches defending 1-4. He puts pressure on the ball and is an instigator. I'm not projecting him to be a strong starter candidate with where he is now. But even if he doesn't improve a lick, he's a guy who can really help your roster construction for years to come allowing you to fit him in defensively to cover gaps you have at different positions. Unfortunately, the one position he will not be able to help is in rim protection.
