I think Deadwood is my favorite show ever. Haven't seen any of Justified.

Do yourself a solid and watch it. As many others here will attest it's great.

Especially if you loved Deadwood.

Any thoughts on This Is Us?

Everybody at work says how great it is. Thinking about binge watching it.

Just watched this over the weekend and I second your recommendation. It was especially interesting hearing the two girls be interrogated and how honestly they answered questions with very little emotion.

Watched the first episode of Westworld. It didn't really suck me in at all - if anything, the whole "old west" feel to it is a turn-off to me because that genre just isn't my thing at all.

But then it has the sci-fi aspect to it and it kept me going through an otherwise boring episode. That, along with some great actors - especially Jeffrey Wright, Anthony Hopkins, Ed Harris, and Thandie Newton.

Idk if I'll continue, though.

I was pretty instantly enthralled, so I might not be the best sounding board but I loved that show. If nothing else, Anthony Hopkins and every single dialog he has is awesome and meaningful, makes it worth watching alone.

al swearengen is one of the best characters in tv history.

Agreed. Al rules. best character on TV ever.
Rest the cast , no so much, but still one of my favorite shows of all time, just because of him. I have watched every single thing
McShane has been in since and have been left wanted. Pillars, Ray Donovan, GoT ( :( ) , Al was his role role of a lifetime, much like West as McNulty in the Wire.

Just was explaining to someone this very issue. The first episode is a drag, though isn't that the case with most new series attempting to find their footing?

But because of that lull, I delayed watching the rest of the series for an extended period. Then, a few weeks later, get to episode 2 and it only took three more days to finish.

Also, don't forget Ed Harris' phenomenal performance. I often was hoping the show would just center around his character's story. That first encounter with Hopkins..

Good point on the first episode aspect, but this episode felt like it was dragging on for so long. I found myself checking the time left over and over again.

I'll give another episode a go and see how I'm feeling. I hate the old western theme, so if that remains a prominent part of the show, that might kill it for me. But we shall see.

I mean it is about 75% of the show, but there might be enough in the other 25% to get you through.

OA anyone? Watched it in like two days and was hooked but the ending was just so open. No idea what to think and especially given a second series isn't a guarantee.
In terms of leaving you talking about it after you finished though there is no doubt it was effective.

I was in a similar mindset. Westerns do nothing for me.

The show starts to intertwine the more sci-fi aspects as it progresses and honestly, by the time episode 2 is done, I think it's safe to say that you'll undoubtedly know if it's worth continuing or not.

My wife and I were really intrigued, but it felt like it started to draw out a bit for my taste. We pushed through and I'm left with pretty mixed thoughts on if it was worth it or not. Particularly the ending but maybe I was just thrown off by the "choreography" of it

Yeah unsure is how I'd describe if I liked it or not.

It would be hard to love a ten episode first season of a show more than I did Sneaky Pete. I'm so glad it's coming back for a 2nd season.

I've been meaning to watch Pete. With football ending my Sundays are now free for such an activity.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Thanks for the reminder, I'll be starting this soon. Is it Amazon?

What would you guys compare Deadwood and Justified to for someone who hasn't seen either?

Any Shameless fans here?

It's an Amazon show, yup.

And ironically, Sneaky Pete was created and run by the same guy who created Justified. The show uses many of the same actors.

As for Justified vs Deadwood, I've only seen the first season of Deadwood but I don't think there's much of a comparison from what I saw.

Totally agree. Is it confirmed for a second season ?
