I thought he was more saying a C that mirrors Cody's strengths so we have a big that has PNR and defense as a strength off the bench and to play that role with the starters when Cody is out.

I mean a starter or not at the C spot who can bring real intimidation and make opponent's offense respect Hornets's defense. So yes, a rim protector, dirty work prone, above average in terms of picks, with a reliable face up jumper (on pick n pop, but not from 3 range).
You don't necessary need a good rebounder as long as you have size and athleticism at the wings (the case with this core). But you badly need the rest.

As for Cody, maybe he can be developed as a pf/c, his footwork is decent enough for this, even though he would struggle against athletic tweeners/elite pf's. He is obviously able to develop a 3 pt range shoot, even though he has a slow release (imo). Not sure if it's necessary though, we could also have more pick n pop between Cody & Nic (or Kemba & even Belinelli) in the midrange. Much better to have your center use his most reliable shot instead of bombing from range and forgeting the post (ala M. Leonard, Okur and alike).

I have been away from watching this Codyless roster as it is fruitless to expect a good result.

Nurkic has played double digit minutes in just 8 of DEN's 14 games in January, and he had 2 DNP-CDs. This tweet though suggests that if he's moved, it won't be for something like a pick + expiring.

Charlotte gets: Blake Griffin
New York gets: MKG, Lamb, Mbah a Moute
Clippers get: Melo

Move Marvin to the 3, Hibbert gets less minutes, Zeller more minutes at the 5, and Batum more minutes at the 2.

Clippers get Melo and get away from Griffin who has been a non-factor this year. New York gets rid of Melo and gets MKG at a great price with 2 other young guys to build their team around. Charlotte gets a much needed post presence.

I don't get why the Clippers, or anyone for that matter, would want Melo at 24mil/year, yet that is the team that has shown the most interest. I doubt they'd be able to afford everybody, so somebody has to go and Griffin seems like the logical choice.

Things aren't going so great in DEN.

It would be fan-freaking-tastic to pry Nurkic and Mudiay out of DEN.

Sessions + Lamb for Brandon Knight (suns clear 6 mil in space). Add super-duper protected 2018 1st, if needed.

Sessions + Lamb + unprotected 2017 1st for Jeremy Lin. Get the band back together. Pray we make the playoffs and that pick doesn't a lottery pick. Do the Nets want to move Lin for a 1st? Is Lin ready to give up the dream of being a starting PG?

Holiday is UFA this summer, which greatly reduces what I'd offer for him. He'll get paid this summer.

Deron is UFA this summer. How much is he worth to us? Sessions + protected 2018?

Sessions for Galloway? Gives Pelicans a chance to get out of his deal. Doesn't seem to be used much now.

Sessions for Jameer?

Tyler Ennis? Terry Rozier? Tyler Ulis?

Or just go with Mumford and Roberts and cut Sessions
