He seems to be doing much better since he realized people play basketball outside the United States.

Anyway, I've never been convinced we don't give too much emphasis to the first D in the Draft & Develop scheme. Like, nobody else in the organization matters? Every kid is destined, from the moment he's drafted, to become exactly what he's going to become, no matter the circumstances he plays in?

I always have thought Ainge has been darn solid. Was never given top picks to play with but still drafted talented kids. When he got top picks, he traded for a Ray Allen & drafted a Jaylen Brown. I'll take it. All day.

Disagree. We cut bait pretty quickly once we realize these guys are duds and once we do they are never heard from again.
I don't believe the narrative that development is stifled because guys don't get playing time before they are ready to contribute. I think if anything, Stevens and the front office get the most out of these guys and make these guys look better than they really are. We made Jeff Green look like a borderline all star and got a future first for him for Christ sake. Crowder was a fringe rotation player and now he's probably a top 75 player and IT went from a 3rd pg off the bench to an MVP candidate.
If you are going to criticize anything, I think it has to be Ainge's drafting.

Zizic isn't going anywhere. Watch him play. He's like Brown, except he's got all the tools at the 5 spot, instead of the 3/4. No way you part with him unless Cousins comes back. He's too fundamentally sound at 20 yrs of age to give up. Oh, and his 20 yr old frame ? His friggin' shoulder width goes from one side of the key to the other. This is a hog beast at the 5.
Easily a top 10 pick if he came out this year. That's how well he's progressing. At 20. I bet some teams take him over Giles at this point. He's got a ton of potential.

My sense is that the scouts meant his offensive game was more of a 3--he could be unguardable. His defense is to be determined, but not what will be his defining asset. Hence the off-the-bench swing forward concept.
I agree--he seems more like a contemporary NBA stretch 4. If he is ever a starter I would think it most likely what he will be.
