I'm five episodes in and debating whether i should finish the season and then watch season two when it comes out.

The premise of the show is interesting and Giovanni Ribisi is good in his role, but the writing/plot so far is really lacking to me. To many things happen which either makes no sense or seriously stretch credibility. It kinda feels like i'm watching a TV series version of the movie Rounders with Worm/Ed Norton as the main character, minus the great writing.

For those who have seen the show, does it get better the second half of the first season?

I definitely think it gets better the longer it goes and the more the stakes are raised for literally every single character.

But you're dead on with the Rounders thing. That's an obvious influence here, along with classic heist/scam films I won't mention.

To be honest, I barely remember the first half of the season. I only really remember the last three or so. It ends with a bang.

So i finished Sneaky Pete and clearly the classic heist/scam film influence was Ocean's Eleven. The finish was ok, but i just didn't dig the show as most reviews on IMD and others here.

Part of the problem maybe is that i'm to analytical when it comes to most movies and TV shows. I regularly find my self questioning shows/movies thinking this or that makes no sense or is to unrealistic.

For Sneaky Pete, the Giovanni Ribisi character needed about 10-15 things to all work out perfectly for his scam to work. That kind of stuff bothers me more than most people who watch shows or movies. It's why i rarely can enjoy the majority of action movies. I always find myself thinking, the main character should have died 5-6 times already and i then just tune out even though i understand that's the point of those type of movies.

Does anyone watch 'Bosch' on Amazon? Watching Deadwood I just realized that Titus Welliver (Silas Adams) is the main character in it. Wondering if it's any good. Decent Rotten Tomatoes score.

Yea, I think the ending of the OA is trash.

The viewer reviews of that show are so deeply divergent. From i loved it to it sucks without lots of middle ground. I think i'm gonna pass.

I like it a lot too. I'm not religious at all but I don't care, it's a good show. Not that it leans towards 'recruiting' anyway... if anything it would make Christians cringe. A bit slow at times but Law's character is great.

Did a great job with the music too.

I'm one episode in to this and definitely intrigued, but could they have come up with a less creative name for the show? It's like they forgot to name it until the last minute and then someone just blurted out 'the young pope' and they went with it.

Lego batman movie, is hilarious. If you liked the Lego movie you will love this. Tons of constant one liners/Easter eggs/shout outs, cameos from other movies/genres. Also fun story.

Just finished seeing Lego Batman. What a great movie, especially if you're a big Batman fan and all the funny jokes they make about other Batman movies.

Probably gonna go see John Wick 2 tonight instead of watching the Bucks get spanked.

Plowing through season 1 of Billions this weekend to get caught up for the new season next week. 3 episodes left but I highly recommend. Many shows without action/fight/killing type things to keep you on the edge of your seat can get a little slow at times, you know, where you're not exactly in a rush to watch the next episode even though you know it's a good show. I haven't had that problem at all yet with Billions.

John Wick 2 was amazing, better than the first in every possible way.

If you liked the first, you NEED to see this.

I enjoyed John Wick 2 but think I still like the first one a bit more. Still, very fun action movies.

TWD

So I caught about 5 minutes of Talking Dead after the show and heard one of the guys, maybe it was the director talk about Rick's role this season. Basically came out and said something along the lines of, scared Rick is over and you are going to see old Rick back. Thought that sets the stage for a pretty good season.

Did you notice the Wisconsin license plate hanging on the bedroom wall near the end of the episode when Aaron was talking to his boyfriend?

Yeah it was weird as hell. I liked it and the cinematography was awesome. Definitely intrigued to watch more but do have a little fear they are walking a thin line of fun weird and being off the rails.

Rented Frank and Lola from redbox yesterday. One of the better new movies Ive seen in a long long time. Highly recommended. First full-length feature from a writer-director named Matthew Ross.

So rare to see a movie that creates and then sustains its own brilliance all the way through to the end. Seems like every decent movie I see lately, they always always always bungle the ending / 3rd act.

Man in the High Castle Season 2 started slow but finished really strong. Look forward to season 3.
