And we get back Jimmy Butler (who hey, I am all about getting , woohoo, Jimmy Butler. ... ) but we ALSO take back Asik & AND* the biggest current team-killer and locker-room wrecker in the NBA, Rondo. And we're supposed to "waive" Rondo and just eat Asik's contract.

I have been on this forum a long, long time. Please take my word for it when I say, in the old-school terms we used to use so dearly, this is the: Worst. Trade. Ever.

P.S.

Jimmy Butler? Oh yeah, I say we get the mothasucka. Okafor, Illyasova, Covington, and a future-first-round pick (like Sac's 2019 1st-rd owed to us?) for Jimmy Butler? Absolutely. And I think Chicago would be much more amenable to this than people would be willing to admit at first. They're having some of the most serious team chemistry, locker-room, and game on-court problems in the NBA right now, and *THEIR* big names are having the same stock problems we're having. So please don't give me the "Jimmy Butler is worth LeBron and Kevin Love or everyone on the Lakers & Celtics combined!!" nonsense.

But this trade? Okafor, AND Noel, AND a (potentially very high) lottery pick... for Butler, a terrible contract we have to eat and a bad contract we have to waive? C'mon now. We used to say 10 years+ ago on this forum, come correct or don't come at all.

I think the trade is pretty reasonable.

Yours is not though. If the Bulls move Butler, they're rebuilding. If they're rebuilding, it makes zero sense to acquire Ilyasova (and possibly Covington).

My official prediction pre-bedtime.

3 team deal gets finalized tomorrow.

NOP In:
Robin Lopez
2nd round picks in 2018 and 2020 from Phi
Ilyasova

Chi in:
Okafor
Rodriguez

Phi in:
Ajinca
Valentine
2018 Chi 1st (top 5 protected)
2018 NOP 1st (lottery protected)

That's my guess.

Trade is not close to legal

People need to think about what a fair return for Okafor is. No way we're getting a lightly protected first plus a productive player straight up for him. Any first received would be in return for taking a horrible contract. I think Okafor's value is similar to what Turner's was when we we had a trade master desperately trying to trade him-- a 2nd Rd pick, maybe 2.

Right round pick. Probably a better center prospect than any one in the draft this year, all projected 10-20. And no I haven't seen them all play. But it doesn't look like a very great crop.
Get real.

So do you think BC has been offered a 10-20 pick and is playing hardball? Not a chance, unless a contract dump was attached. Okafor is a liability on an NBA roster and any competent GM can see that. My opinion, again, hope I'm wrong, but I think people expecting a 1st + are being unrealistic.

Wouldnt mind a trade for butler as long as we arent completely selling farm. JB does have injury concerns and has the questionable rep tag.

Not to mention if u make a trade for butler, simmons and embiid better play this yr, which at this point none of us know.

Only on Realgm. In the 12 years i've been here i honestly don't think i've ever seen a trade idea where both fanbases say "yea thats a fair trade". Usually its one saying "were giving too much" and the other saying "were not getting enough"

Jimmy Butler is a BONAFIDE SUPERSTAR in his prime. those are rare and they don't come cheap. Eating some bad contracts is nothing. Theres a very good chance that those picks we would be getting back never pan out to be as good as him. Only reason why im O.K. with trading him for a rebuild package is because we don't have a Joel Embiid and a Ben Simmons to put around him and no way of getting those type of players any time soon. philly would be left with A starting lineup of:

C: Embiid
PF: Simmons
SF: Saric
SG: Buckets
PG: 2017 lottery pick

Thats an elite starting 5 as early as next season, especially in the East. You don't need more draft picks, just guys to round out the bench. Hell, Sixers can probably squeeze Mirotic or someone extra from this trade (hes pretty good with a compitent coach, see his rookie year under Thibs)

Bulls would be doing about as good as it gets for a team thats giving up the Superstar.

Pels get a guy that they apparently highly covet (okafor) and shed themselves of a bad contract

I know that everybody wants a fleecing like Rasheed to the Pistons or Pau to the Lakers, but thats just not reality. You have to give some to get some in this league

It is but that was not meant to be posted as breaking news.

The point is according to reputable sources he has been offered a first round pick for a player on a modest deal (Ajinca). The pick somewhere else was revealed to be top ten protected pick in 2018.

So no we shouldn't need to take on Asik to get a top three protected pick. Which assuming everything stands the same (which it won the pelicans are the most talented of the bottom teams) has a 75 percent chance of being 7th or 8th

Gonna go on record now saying I don't think Okafor gets traded at all. Just a feeling I have.

I can feel our board meltdown over it so strongly, that I almost feel like part of my consciousness is overlapping in another timeline where it already happened.

Oh, and to top it off, I think Lopez, Ibaka, etc all get dealt and we're the only ones who couldn't make a deal.

6.3BPM, Kobe only had one season with higher BPM than him at 6.4BPM when Kobe was 24.

Top 3 in the entire league in RPM. He's +12.4 on/off NetRtg. His team plays best when he's on court, worst when he's off court.

He's DEFINITELY NOT the reason why his team is losing.

He might not be a superstar by name (or maybe we're not just used to it) but he provides superstar impact.

It's my opinion that it shouldn't take an extra 25 million to get a less protected pick. Especially considering the likelyhood of them picking outside the top 5. Heck they still have a realistic shot at the playoffs. They are only 4 GB. There is an outside chance we end up with a worse pick compared to 2018 and pay 25 million (diff between Asik and Ajinca) for the privilege of doing so.

I think it's great that these players are all playing well near the deadline. Much like the lakers early on in the year I'm not confused in the least who they are.

Hopefully Colangelo gets some offers for Ersan, Sergio, and Henderson. I also do find it funny that Okafor didn't get a DNP-CD. He got a DNP-Rest. It's almost like he's being trolled.

Bulls insider on their board claiming we turned down Valentine + a 1st (not sure if 2018 or 2017 or protections) from the Bulls, however if they offered McDermott and a 1st we'd take it. In the meantime, they are trying to recoup another first (before presumably trading us one) by trading Lopez or McDermott elsewhere.

Sounds fairly plausible. I can understand us wanting McDermott over Valentine assuming the pick is the same protection/year. Right now Chicago is at #17 in the Tankathon. I can easily see that going down towards 12-14 by the end of the year. They also get the SAC pick if it falls out of the top 10. Perhaps we end up trading for the higher of the SAC or CHI pick along with Valentine.

Return to Philadelphia 76ers
