He needs to play with a floor spacing 4 and we have two young ones so that checks that box. As much as I like Chriss and Bender I don't think either will be a great rebounder so you need a good one at the 5 and he checks that box too. There is a question of whether he can actually be a good defender or just a guy who gets blocks but at his age that can improve.
The problem as is price. I imagine Detriot wants a lot for him and for me the Suns 2017 pick would be a non starter. Now if it was say some combination of Warren, Len, and the Miami picks I might be open to talk about it. You would also need to find a home for Chandler if you make that deal but I think that's doable.
With Drummond, its not just blocks, but steals as well, which is a very good sign.
Now what if they wanted the Bledsoe/Jackson swap that i mentioned. Would anyone be ok with taking on yet another 4 year $14M under preforming PG that could be very hard to move? And if Bledsoe was on the move, i would be adamant that we keep our pick this year, or in the least have it top 4 protected. I dont even think a pick swap would be that good either, as they currently sit with the 16th pick, and i dont think i would be that willing to drop that far down. Miami pick would be more than fine to me, as we still have our own pick next year as well.
One situation that we dont want to get in is what the Celtics are dealing with. They have been stockpiling picks for years now, but once those picks have been used drafting players, it turns into a ticking clock. While the picks held much value at the time, now players selected with those picks have dropped the value immensely. I mean really, what team would be real enamored with guys like Young/Zeller/Olynyk, all mid 1st round pick guys towards the end of their rookie deals, or even Smart/Brown, 2 very high lotto picks that really havent showed much on the league. I'd say that damn near all those players were at their highest value when they were still unmade draft picks, and the value has only gone down from there. Now Bostons greatest assets are their 2 Brooklyn picks.
