"I don't know if 'hurt' is the right word. It was probably 'fatigued' or 'drained,' something to that measure more than hurt. Hurt implies he had some part of him that was injured and couldn't play," Myers said.
You heard it here first, from your very own GM.
Curry was also trash in the 2015 finals given that he was an MVP and going up against Lebron and bunch of bench scrubs. His finals history has been suspect and its looking like a correlation at this point.
Of course Curry gave this reason for opting out of the Olympics:
“My previous experiences with USA Basketball have been incredibly rewarding, educational and enjoyable, which made this an extremely difficult decision for me and my family. However, due to several factors — including recent ankle and knee injuries — I believe this is the best decision for me at this stage of my career. It’s an incredible honor to represent your country and wear ‘USA’ on your chest, but my primary basketball-related objective this summer needs to focus on my body and getting ready for the 2016-17 NBA season.”
He could have just said, it's been a long season, and he needs a break to recuperate.
GMs and Coaches have their own language, possibly imposed by their lawyers, but their thinking is that they do not play an "injured" player. An injured player has to heal. A player who's been cleared to play, may have to play hurt ... but they're not injured and do not believe they can get further injured by playing hurt.
Of course that doesn't always work out, but ask someone with the Cavs and they will swear up and down that Kyrie's knee exploding on contact with Klay's was just a freak accident that had nothing whatsover to do with Kyrie playing hurt...
Believe that stuff if you want?
