I think I'd be tempted.

I think you would need more than MKG to get KCP.

Copied from the offseason strategy thread...just interested in thoughts for the offseason:

Would you guys do:

MKG, Marv and Sessions
for
Knight, Warren, Dudley and Ulis

We get out from under Marv and Sesh and get our combo guard (I know he sucks this year but Knight is only one season removed from 19+ PPG) and shooter (Dudley is lights our beyond the arc and he doesnt rely on athleticism as he gets older) as well as a decent young PG in Ulis. I hate getting rid of MKG but I think Warren is a decent replacement and still has potential. This also saves us a little money, though we clearly dont care so much about that.

Going off the same train of thought from my last post next year is:

Kemba - Knight - Ulis
Batum - Marco - Lamb
Warren - Dudley - Lamb
Frank - Giles - Wood
Cody - Miles - Tobey

Still leaves us with a possible Lamb trade (or just keeping him) and the MLE as luxury depth options (probably for a decent veteran at the 4). Again, I use Giles as a place-holder...just whoever is BPA for us.

I think perhaps we can unsticky this thread until June.

Assuming your pick is 12th to 14th.. Your pick and Sessions for Marcus Smart?
Disclaimer: Trades I post shouldn't make you stressed or angry if you disagree. If you say it's unproductive because it won't happen and we're only allowed to post deals that actually happen, it takes away 99% of trades here and the fun out of the board.

Another perimeter player who can't shoot? Eh I'd pass. We already have MKG. And isn't his rookie scale contract almost up?

Nah, Smart is a poor man's point guard version of MKG. I think both teams decline this deal. I like his defense, but hate everything else about him.

Hello all!

I've been working on ideas for the offseason, since OKC's capped out for the foreseeable future and I'm trying to see what they could do to get back under the tax.

Would you consider MKG/Lamb for Oladipo?

Meh. Oladipo wouldn't be a bad fit in between Kemba and Batum. Allows Batum to stick at his more natural position of SF. 35% on 5+ 3PA would certainly help spacing and Oladipo is a good enough defender. He can also play as a backup PG in a pinch.

On the other hand, MKG is locked in at 13 mil while Oladipo is about to jump to 21 + Giving up Lamb in the process, who is at least a decent rotation wing. I don't think it's what we need to take the next step.

MKG, Sessions or Belli, 2018 2nd? Really only including Lamb to make salaries work—I'm not married to the idea of him.

I tend to agree this isn't what you need to take the next step, but I'm not sure what the next step is for the Hornets.

Yeah, I don't know how I feel about that. Don't hate it, don't love it.

Salary cap next year is looking to be around $102 million.

The 6 man group of Batum, Oladipo, Plumlee, Kemba, Cody, and Marvin puts the team at around $94 million

I am not a fan of consolidating that much salary into 6 dudes.

Not a fan. I'd much rather have MKG and Lamb than Oladipo. We don't get better and our bench loses one of its only weapons.

Got a Lopez trade that I don't hate and I think it's realistic.

We send out Plumlee, Sessions, and a top 12 protected 2018 1st. We get Brook Lopez.

New Orleans sends out Asik and Ajiinca, they get back Miles Plumlee.

Brooklyn sends B. Lopez, they get back Asik, Ajinca, Sessions, and our 2018 1st.

If we're somehow able to convince Melo to waive his non-trade clause to play here I like this for us as well:

We trade Marvin, Plumlee, and our 2018 top 12 protected 1st; and get Carmelo Anthony.

New York trades Anthony, they get back Brook Lopez.

Brooklyn trades Lopez, they get back Marvin, Plumlee, and our 2018 1st.

We move long-term salary for someone that can take the scoring pressure off Kemba. Brooklyn adds two rotation quality players and a pick. This trade might even make them better, which considering their draft pick situation is a good thing for both us and the Knicks. New York moves Anthony for an expiring contract that likely makes them slightly worse due to their roster makeup, but allows them to save face to the media because Lopez is a quality player. I think PJ would be happy with this because he wants to rebuild, but would prefer to at least appear to be competitive. This trade accomplishes that goal.

We'd have to follow this up with another trade for a backup center. My idea is Koufos for Sessions, giving Sacramento an expiring veteran backup at a position of need and opening up more playing time for their two lottery centers.

Would Wes Matthews + taking back dead salary for #11 be interesting?

Or maybe Wes for a 2nd + Lamb

Trade season is back again, re-sticky for this thread. Use for fake trade suggestions. Legit rumors can get own thread. Also, feel free to post fake trades as part of overall offseason strategy in the general offseason thread.

Lakers would take that and run, but we don't gain anything from that. I haven't seen anything from Russell in two years to make me believe he has the star potential I thought he had. He's worth more than #11, but that gap is nowhere close to the gap between Batum and Deng. Deng is one of the worst contracts in the NBA.
