If we're somehow able to convince Melo to waive his non-trade clause to play here I like this for us as well:
We trade Marvin, Plumlee, and our 2018 top 12 protected 1st; and get Carmelo Anthony.
New York trades Anthony, they get back Brook Lopez.
Brooklyn trades Lopez, they get back Marvin, Plumlee, and our 2018 1st.
We move long-term salary for someone that can take the scoring pressure off Kemba. Brooklyn adds two rotation quality players and a pick. This trade might even make them better, which considering their draft pick situation is a good thing for both us and the Knicks. New York moves Anthony for an expiring contract that likely makes them slightly worse due to their roster makeup, but allows them to save face to the media because Lopez is a quality player. I think PJ would be happy with this because he wants to rebuild, but would prefer to at least appear to be competitive. This trade accomplishes that goal.
We'd have to follow this up with another trade for a backup center. My idea is Koufos for Sessions, giving Sacramento an expiring veteran backup at a position of need and opening up more playing time for their two lottery centers.
