Either way, the pick seems fine.
Or it's around 4-6 this year (Tatum - Isaac - Smith - Jackson?)
Or it's around 1-5 next draft (Porter - Ayton - Bamba - ...)

A lot of big guys in the 2018 draft it appears, which could be very usefull because of Joel's health.

This tanking process has been a double edged sword from day 1.

76ers had to tank harder than any team in the history of the NBA to get the #1 overall pick last season. We end up with Ben Simmons who did not play a single regular season game and our GM was forced out.

76ers tanked for the #1 pick only to end up #3 and get Embiid. Who misses two season and just needs to stay healthy.

The team had enough losses to draft D'angelo but ended up with Okafor.

We trade Jrue to get Noel and end up trading Noel for a bag of beans. But Dario looks great.

It's uncanny how things seem to work out but there is always something. It's like a horror movie where you get your wish granted but there is always an unforeseen twist that you did not account for. Like wishing for a million bucks and having a million bucks, the kind with antlers, appear on your front lawn.

This process is a great story of how probability/logic and facts merge with human intervention/chance and emotions.
You want it to be one way....but it's the other way. (Marlo)

HUGE tank weekend for us. The Lakers don't play another game until against us on Sunday but we will be on a back to back and play the Clippers on Saturday. I swear the Lakers better beat us. We have no business beating the Lakers on a back to back on the road. Our players better party it up in LA and be out ALL night on Saturday night. They better be hungover for Sunday. We can not win that game. The Lakers should be well rested for that game and we better be hungover.

Biyombo is bad at basketball. Orlando got destroyed by Hornets. Was really hoping they would pull it out.

Good to see the Wolves steal one against the Warriors to put some space between them and the Kings (and the Sixers).

Another clutch loss by the Kings. BTW their announcers are the worst.

They save that for the 4th quarter and OT.

The Kings seem to be playing decent ball and we're lucky they lost the last 2. For people thinking they are going to tank/fold and lose almost all the rest of their games, I don't see it happening. Not sure they can "catch" the magic. Hopefully the Pelicans come together and at least give the Kings the 6 spot at worst.

I haven't been watching them, but based on the flow of scoring during the last few Kings games, could it be that -just like against us the last couple of years - teams don't start trying until the 3rd quarter, creating the false perception the Kings are a competitive team during first halfs?

Certainly that's probably the case against the good teams. But against the lower level and mid tier teams, they probably win some of those games. I guess all I'm saying is they still seem like a better team than the Nets, Lakers, Sixers, Magics of the world and have that post-Cousins trade chip on their shoulder. Thus, I'm not sure I see them falling much further in the standings. Games next week against Suns and Magic will be big indicator.

There is 0% chance lakers pick will convey this year. 1st reason they will end up being 2nd worst team that gives huge chance to land one two or 3 pick.
And second reason- nba wont allow to lakers get back to medioricity for next 5 years. It is their biggest name and when lakers sucks is bad for bussiness.
As i suspect that we got a deal hinkie out we get Ben.
Still lakers having all the fuzz over ownership fights, even possible a good gm in magic, they have to dump 2 huge contracts and rookies not developed yet, so im fine with top 6 pick next year from la, since we are targeting PO- our pick will be 11+

(You realize it's a 9 percent difference to get top 3 between 2nd and 3rd overall in the standings, right? So you're basically relying purely on conspiracy as the basis for the "no chance" if they end up 2nd worst.)

I know it is conspiracy and no proof but smell is in the air that.
I can refrase even if lakers land 4th worst record i still believe the woud land at least 3rd pick. Just think of, if sixers would get 2nd and 4th, or 4th and 5th,and with healthy biid and simmons team would become ridiqulously loaded with soo potential, not mentioning good plays from upcomming roty Dario, motor and heart tj, roco and others. That would prove nba naked how hinkie raped system, and with new cba stars wont leave teams other gms would try to do the same.other team fans already seeing huge benefits of supertank and wants their teams to go same path.
Lakers the second/ biggest name after Nba itself/and michael jordan- biggest, Richest francize where holywood stars are and would want to come what would make game more popular and many etc etc etc.
Not getting the pick this year and unprotected 2019, they would have to tank 2018- 2019 season... Then dlo imgram and clarkson and others are not first shine superstars and barely will be. And that would throw this team to same situation as magic are- balancing and fighting for 8th spot.
Just nba itself would benefit a lot more of lakers success than sixers

Lakers desperately needs.a superstar, nba desperately needs lakers to have a superstar. City needs a superstar to put on magazine covers, rapers needs a superstar to wear t shirt( LA KOBE t shirt so many rap videos!). Magic new gm needs a superstar and silver will give it to him.
If not no 1 then no 2 - for sure.
Nba always had a smell of $ over sport, had smell about fixed drafts, if refs time per time gamble $). And if this draft could bring back old good competetive Lakers it will be done at any cause.

So where were all the conspiracy theorists the last couple years when neither the Lakers nor the Knicks won the lotto?

You are terribly misinformed about how the lottery draw works if you believe it is fixed. Watch NBA lottery draw videos which are readily available on youtube and elsewhere.

In short, the media and a representative from each of the teams is in the room when the drawing takes places. Each representative has sheets of papers which show which team gets which combinations. If they want to check that they are getting the right number of lottery combinations, they can do so before the drawing takes place.

The balls are placed into the drawing machine, each individually so you can see that each number is present. As each ball is pulled from the drawing machine, the team representatives can crossreference that ball with the list to see if they have a matching combination.

In the videos, you can see the team representative celebrating as soon as the fourth ball is drawn (and before the presenter announces the winner) since they have the combination on paper in front of them.

The drawing cannot be fixed and it is silly to think that it can. If it was fixed, the representative with the winning combination would be jumping up and down with the paper in hand and saying his team was cheated. If it was fixed, members of the media who are present would also notice. The reason to have the media and team representatives present is to stop these silly conspiracy theories.

Every effort is taken to make sure the drawing is fair and transparent.
