Ricky Rubio is Wolves second best player without any doubt.

It's always been about health for Rubio, I knew he can ball like this but can he stay healthy for a full season? I hope so.

And most of his health concerns have been just dumb luck injuries.

I think the biggest concern is can he finish at the rim? His shooting is what it is so he needs to be able to score at the rim.

Rubio's weaknesses are very real, so I understand the haters. But he's beyond elite at the things he's good at. He's a transcendent passer. He's an elite defensive point guard. The biggest question is his shooting/finishing so bad that teams will be able to neuter him in the playoffs. Until then, I cringe when i see trade rumours involving Rubio for (insert mediocre point guard who can shoot here).

I hardly watch Wolves unfortunately but is Rubio better than prime Rondo? Because when you mentioned great passer and defender with bad shooting Rondo is the first name i remember. I'm just wondering how Rubio manage to survive in this league when almost all the great PG are great or above average shooters now.

Rondo was a better finisher than Rubio has been. Rondo smaller defensively but also quicker. It's kinda murky to separate/rank great passers, but I think Rubio is on a higher level cerebrally and instinctively than prime Rondo. Rondo played amidst a ton of great shooters (Allen from 3, KG from 15-18 feet, and Pierce from everywhere) and he was really great at threading the needle and delivering the ball. Rubio makes passes i've never seen before, the kind of passes i need to see a few time in replay before i get it. But no the shooting thing is a massive problem, despite Rubio's god level passing, he definetily takes things off the table in a tangible way.

I agree this is how it's counted for everyone, I just don't like it. It just looks ridiculous when a guy isolates, dribbles twice, pumpfakes and shoots and the guy that passed to him gets the assist 10 seconds after his pass.

Btw..for anyone who didn't see it tonight, he had 22 points and 19 assists. Wait until you see the highlights for the first qtr where he dropped 10 dimes and one amazing bounce pass.

True, but maybe some day they'll have a stat for getting the ball to an open shooter whether he makes the shot or not. I think Rubio would still be way up there. Watching the Wolves previous game against the Bucks, in the first quarter Rubio had five or six passes to open shooters, including a few shots at the rim, where the shooter missed. He also has a few where the man was fouled while shooting and missed the shot. No assist for that even if the shooter makes both free throws.
Granted, that happens to all pgs. But Rubio still sees the floor and gets the ball to the open man better than all but a few pgs in the league.

You're forgetting Embiid, the GOAT, and Anthony Davis who's at least at the same level of KAT.

2nd best? Nah..it's still towns wiggins Lavine ahead of him hes had very good 2 week stretch..but hes always been invonsistent let's see if he can keep it up before making such statement.

Lavine is the perfect tank commander, the last player I'd want in a winning team.
Wiggins has similar attitude, but has more talent too, so there's a little not hope for him.
Right now Rubio is way better than both and counting both offense and defense probably as good as if not better than KAT.

The guy also went through the death of his mother and grandmother in a short period of time, being so far from home, it must have been pretty hard. Plus the constant trade rumours. Now he feels confident and is injury free, so this is the real Ricky. Hope he is lucky enough to keep it up, he deserves it.

I'm sure he is going to be a NBA champion at some point, he needs to make the right choice when his contract expires.

If you're implying he should take Tony Parker's place in San Antonio I agree with you.

I like Rubio, but I don't think the Wolves will get far with him as their PG of the future. He'll get the Tony Allen treatment in the playoffs when teams are game-planning and scheming around opponents weaknesses. Every year people forget about how much different the playoffs are until they happen.

And as a result, during the regular season, the narrative changes faster than kids swapping pokemon cards. Rubio (and most other players for that matter) become overrated if he has a good stretch of games, and then underrated if he has a bad stretch of games. Rubio is easily a top 15 point guard, probably somewhere in the 8-12'ish range, at least in the regular season.

But a player passing the ball to the scorer still makes a decision that turns out a right one in case of points scored. The passer has other options in most cases and he has to make right decision of where the ball goes and he has to complete the pass, often having to work on the spacing, timing and angle of the pass. So what if the scorer decides to play around with the ball a little. Should it cancel the work the passer has done? This stat "motivates" the passer of the ball to make plays for others. I think NBA did right. Europe/Fiba is trailing behind as always

I mean, hasn't he had a pretty blah season up until the last few weeks. Hot streak happens all the time for different players. I'm not saying he's horrible or trying to bash him or anything, just that 3-4 weeks doesn't always mean he's going to be like this ongoing for the foreseeable future. Cool, hadn't seen the new RPM numbers. They are updating them more frequently now. Rubio's RPM has increased dramatically over the last two weeks.

He is one of the best defensive pgs in the league, and he's been on a tear for awhile now. So the the real question is, have u watched more of Rubio other then this last game
