That I absolutely hate. We're really gonna dump Dipo and restart the SG-Cycle. Yikes.
If they got someone like porter and Abrines learned how to play defense, I would be ok with it. I agree though, I think Adams and Kanter should be moved first.
I don't see any way we get better by trading Dipo. Porter is worse than Dipo.
Agreed. Dipo is still improving. This is his first year with our franchise and he's done a great job especially considering how much time he's had to miss. He integrated pretty seamlessly with our roster all things considered and I think he'll only get better. Besides that I have no clue why anyone would think KCP or Porter would be good FA candidates that put us into contention. Both are fine players but clearly both are going to be max overpays this offseason and we have 0 cap room. And if we did theres no way those are the guys we pursue.
Katz brought up a good point on the DTD podcast earlier this week. Pretty much every single contract in the NBA outside of the amazing deals a la Crowder/IT/Steph etc etc are going to be overpays on the front end or back end of the contract. When it comes to that choice you always look to pay up front as opposed to overpaying a guy on the back end of his deal when he's no longer contributing what he's earning. At least with Adams and Dipo they are both young and will be in their primes throughout the remainder of their current contract.
(It's also why I'm not head over heels in love with signing Taj for long term money. He's been awesome for us no doubt but that money could be spent elsewhere. We'll have to see how it shakes out but I'm not crazy about paying 35 year old Taj 15mil per)
