I take it you're not fond of Jarrett Allen.

Jarret Allen with less hair is John Henson

Gets complicated if it also allows us to dump a bunch of salary and we have eyes for a major FA. I don't see anything realistic out there. Sometimes unrealistic things happen I guess.
The only reason I've been entertaining the idea of trading Middleton is that I'm not 100% convinced that he's totally okay with this being Giannis' team. I'm not in the locker room so I don't know what the truth, but that's just what his body language has been telling me since he returned from injury.

Giannis might look like he's **** around all summer but then in October he will somehow come back looking even better, because that's what Giannis does.
I *suspect* that the time for accumulating and developing talent is long gone and every year going forward is a missed opportunity. If we're not ready to compete then too bad, another year lost.
The problem is, imo, that there is nowhere near a Championship core here. Middleton is not good enough to be a #2 guy and depending on Jabari is a recipe for disaster. His knee is a ticking time bomb, and many still questioned his fit/real impact before the second ACL. To me the only way to add another piece to make the Bucks a championship contender is via free agency. That's not happening any time soon because of foolish deals given out last year, so we're probably wasting two years or so as is. There's a lot to like about Thon and Brogdon, but they are both 24.
Giannis is 22. I think this is a critical point for the Bucks. He's young enough where you could do a reset and have plenty of prime years left for the Bucks to contend. Problem is we need better leadership and a strong front office. You'd have to sit down with Giannis and explain to him what your long term plan is. Might be nice to have any kind of GM to do that at the moment.

To be fair, Jabari made big improvements last season and even doubters like me came around on him. Then the disasterous injury. But science and surgical techniques keep on improving. Remember back in 2007 when Shawn Livingston blew out all the ligaments in his knee and dislocated his kneecap in maybe the grossest NBA injury ever - at the time, people weren't sure he'd walk again. Since then, he's got a bunch of championship rings. If he comes back, he is a legit #2 scorer on a contender, imo. That pushes Middleton to #3 - where he should be - assuming he gets himself in top shape. If Bucks get lucky with health, players work hard, and they make a couple good moves, they have the foundation to be an Eastern Con contender in 2 seasons.

I keep going back to him and I can't figure out where his usefulness is going to come from.

Ain't no one have time for that. We need Zanik to interview his replacement and watch the good ole boys show off their secret handshakes.

He's rising up the boards, the ringer currently has him at #27
