He'll be 36, and yes I think at 36 he will still lead his team to the playoffs

Just corrected it, you're fast man.

Hoiberg is on the short list for the Ohio State job. I think this could actually be a good thing for a possible Melo trade. Butler was not a fan of Hoiberg so him leaving could make it more likely Butler stays if he gets to help choose the next coach. With Wade opting-in, I also dont think the Bulls would want to trade Butler and would instead try to compete.

Nope, 1st available pick they can trade is 2022.

The main issue with moving melo is the teams who want him and he wants have so little to offer in return

They are all stacked in win now mode and have older players and limited picks

However both Portland and Detroit have come out dangling picks in this years draft. This is the way to make things happen.

Ny trades melo to the cavs
Ny gets Stanley Johnson, Reggie Jackson and miles Leonard plus portlands 20th and detroits 15

Cavs get melo
They send out shump, Frye and RJ as well as cash to det and a future 1st rounder to Detroit. Like in 2022 or something. Top 8 protected let's say.

Detroit sends Reggie Jackson, Stanley Johnson and the 15 th

They get Frye and Shump and Cle's pick

Portland send Leonard and 20 to ny and they get RJ and a trade exception

Portland sheds major contract
Detroit adds vets that fit their style and remove Jackson, who they hate, and Johnson who they are disappointed in
Clev lands melo for next to nothing. A lineup of kyrie, Lebron, melo, love and Thompson is their version of the warriors east

And NY sheds melo, takes on contract in Jackson and Leonard
Ny adds a young talent in Johnson who should do well in the triangle, a guard in Jackson who can actually play and who Phil has been rumored to want.
And of course we have the 8, 15 and 20 picks in the draft

I'd argue that we can either rebuild the roster with those picks or package two of them together to move up and target either Josh Jackson or Tatum from Phili or phx

Thoughts?

damn! you hate the pistons that much? do you realize pistons pick is 12 and not 15? and if the pistons are going to wait 5 years for a pick in your proposed lopsided trade, i as a fan would hope they'd be smart enough to insist the pick be unprotected.

New York Knicks fans are so unreasonable. How about this
Detroit trades Reggie Jackson, Stanley Johnson and the 12th to NY for Carmelo and Porginzis?

let the firestorm begin...or just ignore

Plus, my understanding is that they're bringing Rondo back.

Melo will never leave the Knicks unless:
1. Phil Jackson leaves first
2. His (Melo's) contract expires
3. He is traded to one of the top two contenders at the deadline

Knicks are stuck with Melo. Just my opinion

You seriously just called us unreasonable and came up with that trade proposal?

We'll do that for Carmelo and take Jackson's contract off your hands to go along with everything else. Hell you can swap Lee for your bad contracts too.

So...trying to figure out how Cavs could acquire Melo we would definitely need a 3rd team. Cleveland doesn't have enough to make it worth it.

Who would take spare parts from Cleveland/Knicks to facilitate and make it worth it for Knicks?

Same goes for Clippers. Who could we get involved?

I really don't see an easy trade. Boston would be the best team to deal with if he would go there. They could offer enough without a third team.

I really don't want to go through another half season of Melodrama. It started before we traded for him and, other than the 54 win season it hasn't stopped.

Trade rumors
Melo doesn't fit
HC quits
Lin situation
FA situation
NTC
Triangle issues
Phil media nonsense
Will he be traded again?

Not blaming Melo for everything. I am just tired of the never ending issues. He also has no reason to be here. We are in rebuild mode and he should help facilitate that by expanding his team list.

You proved my point. Unlike most fans, I don't make unreasonable lopsided trade proposals in favor of my team. If one happens I will be happy. Click the links below to see what the Pistons surrendered for Reggie Jackson, Tobias Harris and Marcus Morris. As I have always said, Pistons got one for a song, one for a dinner and one for a dance. These were trades that I never would have suggested considering what the Pistons surrendered.

I would trade Melo for Love immediately. At least Love is a tradeable asset that you could get players/picks from. We can't do **** with Melo's stubborn ass. Love probably has more trade value regardless, but Cleveland might feel desperate enough to make a chance. if Melo gives the OK, you gotta take it.
