There's less than a 1% chance the C's draft Lonzo.

Of course not. Why would you draft someone who is leaving the first chance he gets in FA?

He would only be able to leave after 8 seasons, so i don't see that being a huge worry. The main reasons why they wouldn't draft Lonzo are 1, Fultz is better and 2 it forces Boston's hand with Isaiah.

Greg Monroe?

The Warriors got the next 5-6 on lock... so?

what about an insignificant player like Greg Monroe who was taking playing time away from Drummond?

The guaranteed financial security that would be lost out on would make this very unlikely even if Lonzo didn't want to be there. Monroe did this because he wasn't getting the contract extension he wanted. If Lonzo plays well, i really doubt that would happen as well.

If there is anyone who chooses ideal situation over money, it's the Ball family.

Josh Jackson has been promised - has worked out for Lakers in LA. Has not worked out for Phoenix yet. It could be Philly but likely Lakers.

Jackson canceled a workout with the Boston Celtics. That could be because they have no interest or may be because they’re trading the pick so it would be a waste of everyone’s time. As for Phoenix, maybe Jackson doesn’t want to go there. Or maybe the Suns are just optimistic about Lonzo Ball dropping to them. Or some third thing.

Either way, it looks like Jackson is planning on going to Philly or L.A. If he expects to be a Laker, that’s bad news for the Ball family. And if they’ve heard these rumors maybe that’s why Lonzo Ball is going to have a second workout with the Lakers to show them how serious he is about working out and training. Some people reportedly thought he was a little out of shape at his first workout.

A week out from the draft and it seems no one knows who is going anywhere. Except Jason McIntyre.

And Ball plays the same position as Russell. What's your point?

The difference is that playing them together wouldn't be a waste, like it would putting a passer of Russell's caliber at a different position so you can play two guys that don't play defense. Jackson was a college freshman. He's fully capable of developing a reliable jumper. You can play Jackson and a bulked Ingram next to each other at the forward spots with ease 3 years from now and have them both dominate on both ends of the floor.

I'd rather the Lakers draft Ball or trade the pick for the right price, but your reasoning doesn't make any sense.

Jackson's jumper issues are every bit as real as Ball and D'Lo's defensive concerns.

No. D'lo will never be a good defender. There are plenty of players that came out of college with 0 jumper and developed a very good one.

If we come out with Ball and Jackson at the expense of Dlo, I'm very open to that.

Yeah until Russell averages 20/6 next year with two devasting pick n roll partners in Embid and Simmons. Meanwhile, Jackson struggles to get playing time.

If we trade Russell for another **** rookie, who might take 2-3 yrs to get in a groove( and there's a very good chance he doesn't get to Russell's level at that point), I'm **** done with this team.

There's actually a light at the end of the tunnel, and what do we do? Let's end this **** and make a move that takes us 2 years back, just for the **** of it.

You need skill to survive in the league today, I value D'Lo's skill set far more than Jackson's athleticism or intensity.

Not to mention you are then taking a step back in the rebuilding process for at least two years when your goal is to start attracting FAs in 2018. Good luck when two of your young players all play the same position as those you are targeting.

This feels like you just hand waving away a very serious flaw of JJ's. Who are these players that became "very good" shooters? Way more often than not, if a guy can't shoot in college, the best you can hope for is them becoming a passable shooter in the NBA.

And defensively, you can scheme around a guard who isn't a good defender (see Steph).
